WSOP Bracelet Winners Go Toe-to-Toe

Level 2 : 300/600, 50 ante
Pablo Mariz
Pablo Mariz

Kristen Bicknell opened to 1,500 from under the gun and got calls from Pierre Paul Paulin in the cutoff and Pablo Mariz in the big blind.

The flop came {9-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} and Mariz checked to Bicknell who bet 3,500. Paulin folded and Mariz called.

The turn was the {6-Clubs} and Mariz led out for 8,000. Bicknell paused for a moment and then called.

The river was the {4-Spades} and Mariz led out for 20,600. Bicknell went into the tank and eventually tossed some chips in the middle to call. Mariz tabled {10-Clubs}{8-Hearts} for the nut straight and Bicknell mucked.

Bicknell is a two-time WSOP bracelet winner after taking down the 2013 Ladies Event and then the 2016 Bounty Event. This past summer, Mariz scooped the Millionaire Maker for $1.2 million for his first bracelet. The two champions are two of three WSOP winners in the field, in addition to Pascal Lefrancois who won a $1,500 event in 2010.

Bicknell Busts One

Level 2 : 300/600, 50 ante

Kristen Bicknell raised to 1,500 from under the gun and got calls from the player on the button and Pablo Mariz in the big blind.

The flop came {j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} and Mariz checked. Bicknell bet 1,600 and both the button and Mariz called.

The turn was the {2-Hearts} and Mariz checked for a second time. Bicknell fired out a bet of 12,500 and the button made it 25,000 to go. Mariz quickly folded and action was back on Bicknell. After about a minute, she moved all-in. The button snap-called.

The player on the button was at risk with {j-Spades}{j-Hearts} for top set, but Bicknell held {9-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for the nut straight. The river was the {a-Hearts} and Bicknell held to eliminate her opponent.

Lefrancois Doubles Through Puzantian

Level 3 : 400/800, 100 ante
Pascal Lefrancois
Pascal Lefrancois

Pascal Lefrancois opened to 3,600 from late-position and found three callers, including Allan Puzantian who limped in from middle-position.

All four players checked the {j-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{9-Clubs} flop, seeing the {6-Clubs} fall on the turn. After two checks, Puzantian bet 11,000 and Lefrancois took a few moments before raising all-in for 37,200. Puzantian snap-called, putting Lefrancois at risk.

Lefrancois: {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}
Puzantian: {k-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}

Both players had flopped a pair of kings but Puzantian had turned two-pair leaving Lefrancois drawing to a paired board or an ace.

The {j-Hearts} hit the river and Lefrancois rivered best to score the double up.
