Charette Has a Stack and Won't Share It

Level 23 : 250,000/500,000, 500,000 ante

Just moments ago, Duff Charette was down to 8 million in chips and has since doubled twice and then some.

Charette has busted two short stacks and sits on over 80 big blinds now. He told us how he three-bet to 3,700,000 over an open to 1,300,000 and the two players saw a flop reading {q-}{j-}{10-}. Action checked to Charette, he continued for 3,500,000 and his opponent check-raised all-in to put Charette to the test for his last 14,450,000. It turned out that Charette held ace-king for the nuts and his opponent was drawing to a chop with ace-queen.

Charette sits near the top now after nursing a short stack for a while.

Level 23 : 250,000/500,000, 500,000 ante
Ari Engel
Ari Engel

After Jean-Philippe Beaulieu opened to 1,200,000, Ari Engel three-bet jammed for about 15,000,000. Patrick Serda re-jammed over top forcing Beaulieu out.

Engel: {a-Clubs}{9-Clubs}
Serda: {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}

Engel picked up a flush draw on the {10-Clubs}{6-Spades}{4-Clubs} flop but whiffed on the turn; {10-Spades} and river; {7-Diamonds} and his stack was sent to a welcoming Serda.

Three Treys for Charette

Level 23 : 250,000/500,000, 500,000 ante

The player in the hijack raised to 1,200,000 and the player in the cutoff called. Duff Charette was on the button and three-bet jammed for 8,100,000. The hijack shoved over the top for 10,400,000 and the cutoff folded.

Charette was at risk with {3-Hearts}{3-Hearts}, up against {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts} for a coin flip.

The flop came {k-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{3-Clubs} to pair the hijack's king, but Charette also flopped a set to take a commanding lead. The turn, however, was the {5-Hearts} to give the hijack a flush draw for a sweat. The river was the {6-Spades} and Charette was able to sit back in his seat and rake in the double.

Foxen Doubles Through Labbe

Level 22 : 200,000/400,000, 400,000 ante

On the turn of a {j-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{k-Spades}{8-Spades} board, Sebastien Labbe bet 850,000 and Alex Foxen shoved for 2,825,000. Labbe thought for about a minute before making the call.

Foxen: {k-Clubs}{3-Hearts}
Labbe: {a-Hearts}{6-Hearts}

As soon as Foxen tabled his hand, Labbe tossed his cards in face-down, knowing he was drawing dead. The dealer turned them over and Foxen scored the double up after the river completed the board.

Lo Russo Scoops the Biggest Pot of the Tournament for a Monster Lead

Level 22 : 200,000/400,000, 400,000 ante
Maurizio Lo Russo
Maurizio Lo Russo

Paul Dalrymple raised to 1,000,000 from early position and Nicky Evans three-bet to 2,700,000. Maurizio Lo Russo was in the cutoff and called, as did Dalrymple.

The flop came {9-Spades}{8-Hearts}{5-Spades} and Dalrymple checked. Evans bet 5,500,000 and Lo Russo decided to shove for 17,275,000. Dalrymple had 15,925,000 and quickly called for less. Action was on Evans now and it was costing him about 12 million in chips to play. He decided it was worth the gamble and called.

Paul Dalrymple: {7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}
Maurizio Lo Russo: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}
Nicky Evans: {j-Spades}{10-Spades}

Dalrymple flopped a vulnerable straight, with Lo Russo flopped the nut flush draw against Evans' inferior flush draw.

The turn was the {8-Spades} to leave Dalrymple drawing dead, but Evans still had a straight-flush draw. Unfortunately for him, the river was the {5-Diamonds} and Dalrymple was eliminated while Lo Russo almost fully tripled up.

Evans was left with 3,000,000 and busted in an inconsequential hand to bust.
