Langlois Finds a Much-Needed Double-Up

Level 27 : 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

Stephen Langlois was all-in for 1,220,000, having his opponent covered by just a hair.

Langlois held {j-Spades}{j-Hearts}, dominating his opponent's {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}.

The flop came {10-Spades}{8-Spades}{4-Spades} and Langlois held the biggest spade in his hand, taking away one of his opponent's two outs. The turn was the {a-Spades} and Langlois locked up the pot. The dealer put out the insignificant {8-Diamonds} on the river and Langlois raked in the pot, leaving his opponent with just 20,000 in chips.

"Yyyyyeesssssss!"

Level 27 : 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

We got to the table as the dealer was putting out a flop reading {Q-Clubs}{9-Spades}{3-Spades}, with Norman Gauthier all-in for 995,000 from the small blind holding {a-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}, up against Shawn S's {7-Hearts}{3-Hearts} on the button.

The turn was the {K-Diamonds} and the river was the {a-Hearts}, after which point Gauthier yelled out "Yyyyyeesssssss!". Gauthier doubled up and sat back down in his seat.

Wilkins Doubles Through Ransom

Level 26 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

With about 550,000 already in the pot of a {k-Clubs}{2-Spades}{a-Spades} board, Matthew Wilkins bet 205,000 and Ken Ransom raised, making it 530,000.

Wilkins thought for a moment before moving all-in and Ransom took a minute before making the call.

Wilkins: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
Ransom: {a-}{j-}

Wilkins was in great shape and easily faded the {5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} that completed the board. Wilkins' stack was cut down, totaling 1,705,000 which Ransom was forced to pay.

Constantinos Psallidas is Making a Comeback From 1 Big Blind

Level 26 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

We got to the table as the dealer put out a flop reading {q-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{9-Clubs}. Constantinos Psallidas appeared to be the player at risk, all in from the big blind for his last 1,220,000. His opponent was Joseph Leung in early position.

Psallidas was well ahead with {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}, up against Leung's {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}.

The turn was the {a-Hearts} and Psallidas was already reaching forward to pull his chips back, clearly confident he was not going to lose the hand. The river was the {5-Diamonds} and the dealer asked him to wait so he could count his stack and get him paid.

As Psallidas was raking in the pot, he was telling his neighbor that he came back from just one big blind and now sits on over 25 bigs.

Defending Champion Falls

Level 26 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

Earlier this year, Cassidy Battikha triumphed over 2,570 entries to claim the second-ever Grand Prix Canada, banking $84,050 for the win.

Battikha was back to defend his title and was poised to make a deep run on Day 2.

Unfortunately, his day has come to an end and the Grand Prix Canada is guaranteed to have a new champion.

Battikha picks up $1,100 for a top 60 finish.

Steve Ulloa-Torres Finds a Favorable River to Double

Level 26 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante
Steve Ulloa-Torres
Steve Ulloa-Torres

Steve Ulloa-Torres moved all in for his last 900,000 from the hijack and Donald Cowie called from the big blind.

Ulloa-Torres was at risk and well behind with {a-Spades}{3-Spades}, up against Cowie's {a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}.

The flop came {a-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{2-Spades} and Ulloa-Torres still needed to catch a three to stay alive. The turn was the {8-Clubs} but the river was the {3-Clubs} and Ulloa-Torres caught a magical river to survive.
