"Oh shit!" Martin Messier said when he saw Rong Xu turn over his hand.
Messier had just folded to two all ins preflop after opening with a raise.
Messier made it 1,800 and Xu called in position. Next to act was Dalton Dawkins and he went all in for 13,000. When the action was back on Messier he folded and Xu went all in as well.
Xu turned over .
"Oh shit!" Messier said.
Messier had folded, but Dawkins was not so lucky and had against Xu. Dawkins would need to find a king in order to stay in the tournament.
The board ran out and Xu won the hand, eliminating Dawkins.
Antoine Pinard and Peter Sass were heads up to the flop. The board read and Sass had a bet of 10,000 in front of him.
The pot was only about 5,000. Pinard went all in for about 38,000 and Sass called. Sass turned over for two pair and Pinard showed for a set of aces. Neither player held a spade.
The turn was the and the river was the , bringing with it a chorus of oooohs and aaaaahs from the table. Pinard said something under his breath and the pot was split between Sass and Pinard, who both played the board.
John Young and Aein Moradi Zirkohi were heads up to the flop.
Young led for 2,000 and Zirkohi raised to 10,000. Young took about 30 seconds and shoved all in for 24,000. Zirkohi called and showed against the of Young.
The turn was the , giving Zirkohi the flush he was looking for and the river was the , which was no help to either player. Zirkohi won the hand and Young was left with under 10 big blinds.
The players in Day 1a of the All- Stars for Starlight are on the final break of the flight. There are 55 players remaining and the remaining players will bag at the end of level 14.
Michael Bakeman ended the level as the chip leader with almost 120,000 after hitting a flush against Derek Lerner shortly before the break.
