Samuel Chaput bagged the top stack with only ten players remaining in the World Cup of Cards Event #6: All-Stars for Starlight No-Limit Hold em tournament.

The final table will resume at 7 p.m. tomorrow evening at Playground Poker Club. Chaput had an amazing run all day today, eliminating people in huge pots, being the first person to break 2-million and the only person to break 3-million so far. He eliminated Day 1b chip leader Sammy Chao during the final level of play today. When he got all in against Chao preflop and hit a club flush while holding the {k-Clubs}.

Jacob Lafleur is behind Chaput, with 2,410,000 chips and is the only other player coming into the final table with more than 2-million chips.

Nick-Real Seide ended the day at 1,540,000 and is coming in looking to improve on his fourth-place finish in this same event in January.

Samuel Chaput continued his climb late in Day 2 of the All-Stars of Starlight. Chaput just eliminated Stephen Anger.

Chaput and Anger were all in and Chaput had {a-Diamonds}{k-} against the {k-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} of Anger.

The final board read {9-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{8-Spades}{a-Hearts}, giving Anger a flush and open-ended straight draw heading to the river. The river bricked and gave Chaput another knockout and put him over 3-million chips.

  • Not to be outdone, chip leader Samuel Chaput faced a preflop raise to 50,000 by Christopher Baaklini. He shoved all in with his whopping 1.7-million chip stack. Baaklini folded.

Nick Real-Seide is now over 1-million chips after he flopped a set and eliminated Kyle Janisse.

The flop was {a-Spades}{10-Clubs}{9-Clubs} and Seide was first to act. He checked and Charles La Boissonniere bet 75,000. Janisse called before Seide shoved all in for over 600,000, putting both La Boissonniere and Janisse at risk if they called.

La Boissoniere folded and Janisse called after about 30 seconds. He had {q-Spades}{j-Spades} for an open-ended straight against the {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds} of Seide.

The turn was the {3-Spades} and the river was the {a-Hearts}, which meant Janisse would be eliminated and Seide stacked over 1-million chips.

The action started when Francis Carriere limped under the gun and five players, including Gregorio and both players in the blinds, called.

The flop came {10-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{3-Spades} and the blinds checked to Carriere, who made it 17,000. Felix Leclerc called behind and Gregorio shoved all in for 82,000. The action came back around to Carriere, he folded and Leclerc went into the tank.

Leclerc asked for a count then put together enough chips to call. He looked like he was about to push them forward to call, but hesitated. Thinking and re-thinking until the moment when he finally decided to call. He pushed the chips forward and Gregorio showed {3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}a for a set of threes. Leclerc had {a-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} and need some help.

The help didn't come on the turn, {5-Hearts}, and it didn't come on the river, {9-Spades}. Gregorio won the pot and stacked 200,000.

Sammy Chao leads 164 Player Field Into Day 2 of All-Stars for Starlight

Welcome to Day 2 of the sixth event at the World Cup of Cards, a special one at Playground Poker Club. Event #6: All-Stars for Starlight is a $135+$25 no-limit hold'em tournament featuring a massive $100,000 guarantee.

The four Day 1 starting flights attracted 850 entries, creating a prize pool of $111,307. The event will pay the top 90 positions with the eventual champion earning a top prize of $21,000. What was unique about this event was the $25 fee was given as a charitable contribution, totalling more than $21,000 for Starlight Children’s Foundation Canada.

Starlight Children’s Foundation Canada is a charitable organization dedicated to bringing laughter, joy, and hope back into the lives of children with serious illnesses. For over 20 years, our in-hospital entertainment therapy and out-of-hospital fun family adventure programs have brought smiles to children when they need it most.

Action will get underway at 1 p.m. local time in Kahnawake when the 164 strong field will play down to a final table of 10.
