Jean Sebastien Dubois led for most of Day 1a of the $1,650 CPPT. The field drew 154 players today and at least that many are expected tomorrow for the second and final starting flight.
Dubois leads 31 other players with 439,000. Samuel Barre finished in second, after a wild end to the flight which saw Marc Andre Ladouceur eliminated just before bagging in 33rd place. Ladouceur joined Kevin Macphee, Tim Reilly and 2009 PCA Champ Poorya Nazari as some of the higher tournament live earners to join the field. All of them failed to make Day 2 and are expected to join the Day 1b field tomorrow.
Carter Swidler did make it through, he bagged 161,500. Swidler has over $500,000 in live tournament earnings and much more in online earnings.
This is just the start of one of the bigger buy-in events at the Wolrd Cup of Cards. Day 1b starts tomorrow at 11 a.m.
This is Event #24 of the World Cup of Cards at Playground Poker Club. The WCC, which started in August will end in four days, but not before the conclusion of the CPPT $1,650.

Jasdeep Rai shoved all in on the flop for about 60,000. Marc Andre Ladouceur was next to act and asked for a count. While the dealer was counting out the chips, Ladouceur had a chunk of chips in his hand and was slowly lowering them onto the felt to call.
He called and showed for a gut-shot and a flush draw. He was behind the of Rai, who had one pair. The turn was the though and completed the flush draw, sending Rai home in 43rd place.
Richard Figiel just won the partypoker $500,000 Guarantee Canadian Grand Prix last weekend and is in the field for the CPPT $1,650 today. He won CAD $49,385, which was the biggest win of his tournament career. Figiel would like to start traveling to other tournament series' and a deep run here would reinforce his own belief that he is more than ready to make a splash on the tournament scene.
He is currently building a stack, with about 20,000 more than the starting stack.
Charles La Boissonniere currently leads the World Cup of Cards Tournament Leaderboard. He has 1,350 points and is 130 points ahead of Jason Conforti. Conforti is about 20 points ahead of Joey Boczek. The three players are battling it out for the leaderboard with four more days left in the World Cup of Cards.
The CPPT could go along way to La Boissonniere cementing his lead and taking the victory, or it could be a good chance for Conforti and Boczek to overtake La Boissonniere. Currently, La Boissonniere is sitting at about half the starting stack and Conforti is just under the 30,000 starting stack.
Boczek hasn't been seen yet today, but thanks to the Playground Poker Club World Cup of Cards commercial, whenever Boczek walks in he is greeted with bird calls. It will be pretty obvious if and when Boczek enters this starting flight.
Dave Jeanneau-Cyr has had quite a run in the less-heralded tournaments during the World Cup of Cards. He's booked four tournament wins and only played about ten events. He won both the Dealer's Choice tournaments, which mostly turn into 5-card Pot-Limit Omaha tournaments, and he has won a Crazy Pineapple tournament as well. His one No-Limit Hold em win was in a Deepstack Turbo with 15-minute levels.
The CPPT could be a big score to go with his incredible run. He has made more than half of his $11,000+ tournament winnings in this series alone. The CPPT also gives him a shot to move up the tournament leaderboard. While a lot of the players at the top have had some success, they have also played many more of the WCC events. The tournament leaderboard is heavily weighted toward participation. There are players within the top 20 who have not cashed in any event.
However the CPPT event turns out, Dave Jeanneau-Cyr is having a great time and hitting the CPPT in stride with four trophies under his belt. He is currently sitting a little under the starting stack at 24,000.
The World Cup of Cards at Playground Poker Club welcomes its fourth poker tour host. The Card Player Poker Tour $1,650 buy-in No-Limit Hold em tournament. The tournament field will play 14 45-minute levels for each of the two Day 1 flights. There is a $400,000 Guarantee.
The tournament is the second largest starting flight buy-in of the WCC tournament series. There have been multiple satellites and several of the Playground Poker Club regulars are expected to be in the field. The CPPT also offers a chance for some of the tournament leaderboard chasers to gain some ground on Charles La Boissonniere who leads Jason Conforti and Joey Boczek for the $8,000 Carribean Poker Party Package.
