The first event of a 28-event schedule at Playground Poker Room's World Cup of Cards has finished. There were 161 players all vying for the 13 Day 2 spots. In the end, Brent Mccue just missed Day 2 when he got all in preflop against Kathy Sawers with ![]()

and held. She will enter Day 2 with 169,800.
Nick-Real Seide was eliminated just before Mccue after having the chip lead for a good portion of the day. [Removed:105] took over the chip lead and ended the day with 399,100, almost 100,000 ahead of Eric Ranger who finished with the second largest stack (301,900).
Day 2 will be Sept. 13th, but until then each of the players who cashed today can play one of the nine remaining starting flights. If they make Day 2 again, they forfeit their smaller stack and earn CAD $400 on top of the CAD $1,500 for the forfeited stack. Day 1b starts Saturday at 7 p.m. local time.
