Let's Have Ourselves a Break

Level 3 : 150/300, 0 ante

Level 3 has come and gone, which means it's time for another 15-minute break. When they return, the remaining players will play another level before taking the 75-minute dinner break. After that, they'll play two more levels on Day 1a.

Flush for Kaplan Against Cardyn

Level 3 : 150/300, 0 ante

After the player on the button opened with a raise to 750, Jaime Kaplan reraised from the small blind to 2,300. Nicolas Cardyn was in the big blind, and he reraised to 5,000 even. The player on the button folded, and Kaplan called to see the flop come down {A-Spades}{J-Spades}{9-Spades}.

On the flop, both Kaplan and Cardyn checked through to see the {10-Clubs} land on the turn. That's where Kaplan led with a bet of 7,100, and Cardyn made the call to see the {10-Spades} pair the board on the river — a card that also put four spades on board. Kaplan checked, and Cardyn checked behind.

Kaplan tabled the {K-Hearts}{Q-Spades} for a spade flush, and all Cardyn could do was shake his head and muck his hand.

Another for Salter

Level 3 : 150/300, 0 ante

Jack Salter opened for 750 from the cutoff and received calls from the players on the button and in the small blind. The {5-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{4-Spades} flop saw the small blind check, Salter continue for 1,000, and both his opponents call.

All three players then checked the {8-Spades} turn as well as the {3-Diamonds} river. Salter was the last aggressor, which meant he had to show first. He tabled the {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} for ace-jack high, and much to his surprise it was good as both his opponents mucked their hands.

Glazier and Colman Chop Out Suchanek

Level 3 : 150/300, 0 ante
Jan Suchanek
Jan Suchanek

Jan Suchanek has just been eliminated in a three-way all-in clash involving Jackie Glazier and Julius Colman.

The three players got all the money in on the {J-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} flop. Suchanek held the {Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} for top pair and an open-ended straight flush draw. Glazier had the {8-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}, and Colman had the {8-Spades}{7-Spades}. Both Glazier and Colman had flopped straights.

The turn was the {2-Clubs}, and then the river completed the board with the {J-Spades}.

Kawauti Doubles Through Liu

Level 3 : 150/300, 0 ante
Bruno Kawauti
Bruno Kawauti

Bruno Kawauti, who finished 15th in the 2013 WSOP Main Event and was the "Last Brazilian Standing," raised to 700 from middle position and received a call from Xuan Liu in the big blind. When the flop came down {3-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{j-Hearts}, Liu checked and Kawauti bet 900. Liu woke up with a check-raise to 2,400, Kawauti shoved all in for 9,475, and Liu called.

Liu: {j-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}
Kawauti: {j-Spades}{q-Spades}

Both players had flopped top pair, but Kawauti's kicker had him way out in front. The {Q-Diamonds} turn actually paired that kicker, and Liu was drawing dead. The meaningless {9-Hearts} was put out on the river for good measure, and then Kawauti was pushed the pot.

Judges Busts Shak

Level 3 : 150/300, 0 ante
Dan Shak
Dan Shak

Darren Judges checked the {J-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{2-Hearts} flop, and then Dan Shak bet 1,500. A third player in the hand called, and then Judges check-raised to 5,000. Shak moved all in for around 10,000, the next player folded, and Judges made the call.

Shak had two overs to the board and a flush draw with the {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}. Judges had top pair, top kicker with the {A-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}.

The turn was the {A-Diamonds} to give Judges two pair, but that also added a gutshot straight draw for Shak. The river was the {A-Spades}, though, and Judges made a full house to eliminate Shak.

An Orbit with 2013 WSOP Champ Ryan Riess

Level 3 : 150/300, 0 ante
Ryan Riess
Ryan Riess

In less than a month 2013 World Series of Poker Main Event champ Ryan Riess will see his year-long reign come to an end as another November Niner will lay claim to poker's more prestigious title. There's no doubt Riess served the ambassador role well, and he's still at it as he competes here at the 2014 WSOP APAC.

We decided to spend an orbit with "Riess the Beast," which he began with 34,300 in chips at a seven-handed table.

Hand #1 (Hijack): Action folded to Riess and he raised to 650, which took down the blinds.

Hand #2 (Early Position): Riess opened for 600 from early position and then called when Oliver Gill three-bet to 1,700 from the button. Riess checked the {a-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds} flop, Gill bet 1,500, and Riess folded.

Hand #3 (Under the Gun): Riess folded.

Hand #4 (Big Blind): Gill raised to 650 from the hijack and then folded when Riess three-bet to 1,600 from the big blind.

Hand #5 (Small Blind): The player in the hijack opened for 650 and Riess folded.

Hand #6 (Button): A player in middle position opened for 650 and Riess folded.

Hand #7 (Cutoff): A middle-position player raised to 650 and Riess folded.

Hand #8 (Hijack): An early-position player raised to 600 and then called when Riess three-bet to 1,300 from the hijack. When the flop came down {3-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}, the early-position player checked and Riess bet 1,200. It did the trick as Riess' opponent released his hand.
