Gorr Takes a Big Hit

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

After former Aussie Millions champ David Gorr raised from button, the player in the small blind shoved all in for 13,900. The big blind folded, and Gorr opted to make the call.

Gorr: {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}
Opponent: {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}

Gorr was in bad shape, and he failed to get lucky as the board ran out a dry {9-Spades}{8-Hearts}{k-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}. With that, Gorr sent nearly half his chips to the player next door.

Huntly Spikes Two-Outer to Eliminate Wilkerson

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante
Dylan Wilkerson
Dylan Wilkerson

Dylan Wilkerson opened to 1,800 from under the gun and Dennis Huntly three-bet the cutoff to 6,100. Wilkerson went into the tank for close to two minutes before moving all in for 25,800 and Huntly beat him into the pot.

Huntly: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades}
Wilkerson: {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts}

With Huntly in dire straights, the {Q-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{3-Clubs} flop gave him the lead before the {7-Spades} and {5-Clubs} fell on the turn and river to send Wilkerson to the rail.

A Good Day for Hortin and Pfutzenreuter

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

Even though Timo Pfutzenreuter just had to give up a hand against Vincent Chu after calling the 2,000 bet of Chua on a {5-Clubs} {4-Clubs} {Q-Spades} and then folding to thr second barrel on the {K-Spades} turn, he is up for the day. Dylan Hortin is running even better, early in level seven he was all in for his last 12,000 chips and now has more than 10 times of that.

One table over, Brian Rast confirmed that Winfred Yu has been eliminated.

High Fives and Low Kings for Drinan

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante
Connor Drinan
Connor Drinan

Oliver Speidel, who you may recall as the 2012 Aussie Millions champ, raised from late position only to have Connor Drinan, the man who lost aces to aces this past summer in the $1,000,000 Big One for One Drop, three-bet all in for 5,300. Speidel called and the cards were turned up.

Drinan: {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}
Speidel: {q-Spades}{7-Spades}

Drinan got it in good, and he'd survive the flip as the board ran out {6-Clubs}{j-Spades}{k-Hearts}{a-Spades}{a-Hearts}.

Unfortunately for Drinan, that double did him little good. A short time later he got his stack all in preflop holding the {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} and was ahead of the {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs} of his opponent; however, the board ran out {q-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} and trips sent Drinan out the door.

Lai Knocks Out a Shortie

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

Patty Lai opened the action with a raise from under the gun and then called the three-bet shove of a short stack in middle position for 19,000 in chips. Lai was well ahead with {K-Clubs} {K-Diamonds} against pocket jacks and the {9-Spades} {K-Hearts} {5-Clubs} {6-Hearts} {2-Clubs} board left her opponent drawing dead after the turn already.

Calcagno Finds A Double

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

The action started with Kahle Burns raising to 1,700 from under the gun and getting called by Patrick Healy in the hijack. Eric Assadourian then bumped it up to 4,600 from the cut off before Scott Calcagno committed his remaining 7,100 from the big blind. The bet was enough to get Burns and Healy out of the pot. Assadourian made the call and both players tabled their cards.

Assadourian: {k-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}
Calcagno: {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}

The board ran out {10-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{2-Diamonds} to see Calcagno hold with his aces as he doubled up to 18,800 in chips.

An Australian Poker Hall of Famer Downed

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

We saw Australian Poker Hall of Famer and former Aussie Millions champ David Gorr exiting the tournament floor, and he was kind enough to tell us about his demise.

Gorr was crippled after running {10-}{10-} into {q-}{q-}, and then a short time later he got his last 11,000 all in preflop holding {7-}{7-}. Pocket tens reared their ugly head again, but this time Gorr was up against them. The wily veteran failed to catch a third seven, and Gorr's run came to an end at the tail end of Level 8.

Kastle Busts to Danzer

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante
Casey Kastle
Casey Kastle

On a flop of {10-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{8-Spades} with around 6,000 in the middle, George Danzer bet out 3,800 and Casey Kastle moved all in for 11,300 with Shao Liu calling next to act in the cutoff.

Danzer called also as both active players checked down the {5-Hearts} and {3-Hearts} on the turn and river.

Kastle tabled his {J-Hearts}{J-Spades}, but it would be Danzer's {10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} that would see him scoop the pot to eliminate Kastle.
