The Van Gets a Flat

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Van Marcus
Van Marcus

On a flop of {J-Hearts}{3-Spades}{10-Hearts}, Victor Teng fired out a continuation-bet and Van Marcus moved all in with Teng quickly calling.

Teng: {J-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}
Marcus: {K-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}

The turn landed the {6-Spades} to change nothing as Marcus bellowed, "make it high dealer!"

Unfortunately the dealer didn't respond the way Marcus wanted as the {6-Diamonds} completed the board on the river to eliminate Marcus in 38th place - just two spots from the money.

Kasra Bakhshaee Bubbles

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Bubble Boy Kasra Bakhshaee
Bubble Boy Kasra Bakhshaee

Dejan Boskovic opened the cutoff to 12,000 and Ang Italiano called on the button before Kasra Bakhshaee moved all in from the small blind for 51,000. Boskovic folded, but Italiano made the call to put Bakhshaee at risk.

Bakhshaee: {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}
Italiano: {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}

With Bakhshaee trailing and needing to connect to stay alive, the {3-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} flop would see him flop top pair to now be at a huge advantage.

The turn however opened the door slightly as it fell the {A-Spades} to give Italiano outs to a straight.

Unfortunately for Bakhshaee, the dealer would burn and turn the {10-Diamonds} on the river to end his tournament on the bubble while simultaneously sending Italiano up to 535,000 while ensuring the remaining 36 players a guaranteed AU$20,003 payday.

Yu Kurita Eliminated

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Yu Kurita - 36th place
Yu Kurita - 36th place

The action folded around to Tobias Reinkemeier in the small blind who grabbed a stack of 5,000-chips and raised. The bet totalled 52,000 and a short-stacked Yu Kurita examined her own stack before moving all in for 64,500. Reinkemeier called and both players tabled their cards.

Reinkemeier: {a-Clubs}{6-Clubs}
Kurita: {k-Spades}{q-Hearts}

The board ran out {4-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{a-Spades}{10-Hearts} to see Reinkemeier hit an ace on the turn to end Kurita’s day in 36th place for an AU$20,003 payday.

Sam Higgs - 32nd Place
Sam Higgs - 32nd Place

With a flop showing {2-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} Sam Higgs committed his last 130,000 and was called by Baden Logan who had him covered.

Higgs: {j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}
Logan: {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}

Higgs had a flush draw but was trailing the pair of tens held by Logan. Unfortunately for Higgs he was unable to improve on the {7-Hearts} turn or {k-Clubs} river and was sent to the rail in 32nd place.

Cohen Crippled, Eliminated

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Sam Cohen - 26th Place
Sam Cohen - 26th Place

We arrived at the table just in time to see both Sam Cohen and Aaron Lim commit all their chips in pre flop from the blinds.

Cohen: {A-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}
Lim: {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}

The board ran out {3-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{3-Spades}{2-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} to see Lim double up to 255,000 and leaving Cohen with just 13,000 in chips.

In the very next hand the table folded around to Cohen who moved all in for her remaining chips from the button. Gary Benson made the call for the additional 2,000 from the big blind.

Benson: {k-Clubs}{3-Clubs}
Cohen: {4-Spades}{4-Hearts}

Cohen was in the lead pre flop but would lose out when the dealer spread out the {9-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{j-Spades} board to give Benson the higher pair.

Aaron Lim Eliminated in 24th Place (AU$23,441)

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Aaron Lim - 24th Place
Aaron Lim - 24th Place

Aaron Lim checked the {Q-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{3-Clubs} flop, and Brandon Shack-Harris bet 25,000. Lim check-raised all in for around 110,000, and Shack-Harris quickly made the call with the {A-Clubs}{4-Clubs} for middle pair and the nut flush draw. Lim had top pair with the {Q-Spades}{J-Spades}.

The dealer made things quick and easy, but it sure wasn't painless for Lim, as the {9-Clubs} spiked on the turn to deliver Shack-harris with a winning flush. The river was the {J-Hearts} to complete the board, and Lim was eliminated in 24th place.

Mikel Habb Eliminated in 23rd Place (AU$23,441)

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Mikel Habb - 23rd place
Mikel Habb - 23rd place

Scott Davies opened the hijack to 17,000 and Frank Kassela three-bet the button to 32,000 with Mikel Habb calling in the small blind before Davies four-bet to 90,000. Kassela called, and Habb called all in for his last 88,000.

The dealer spread a {8-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{K-Spades} flop and Davies checked to Kassela who moved all in to force a fold from Davies.

Habb: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}
Kassela: {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}

With Habb in bad shape, the {J-Clubs} on the turn gave last year's 7th place finisher outs to a straight.

Unfortunately for Habb, the river landed the {4-Diamonds}, and he was sent to the rail in 23rd place

Shane Warne Eliminated in 22nd Place (AU$23,441)

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Shane Warne
Shane Warne

The action folded to Victor Teng and he raised to 20,000 from the button. One seat over, Shane Warne three-bet to 46,000 and Gary Benson folded in the big blind. Teng pushed his stack of T-25,000 chips forward to put Warne all in and the latter called it off for what looked around 320,000.

Warne: {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}
Teng: {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}

The 888poker pro was in great shape to double up and put another dent into the massive stack of Teng, but lady luck had other plans. On the {J-Spades}{8-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} board, Teng improved on the flop and sent Warne to the rail in 22nd place for a payday of AU$23,441.

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Shao Liu - 21st place
Shao Liu - 21st place

Shao Liu opened the hijack to 17,000 and Tobias Reinkemeier called in the big blind to see a {Q-Clubs}{A-Spades}{K-Clubs} flop. Reinkemeier checked to Liu who moved all in for 115,000 with Reinkemeier instantly calling.

Liu: {A-Hearts}{J-Spades}
Reinkemeier: {J-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

With Reinkemeier having flopped a straight, Liu would need some help to stay alive, and when the {6-Hearts} landed on the turn, he was drawing to just a chop with one of the three remaining tens.

Unfortunately for the ex-Crown Poker Room dealer, the river landed the {Q-Hearts} to end his tournament in 21st place for an AU$23,441 payday.

Tobias Reinkemeier - 20th place

Tobias Reinkemeier opened to 18,000 from under the gun and Henry Szmelcer three-bet the hijack to 44,000. Reinkemeier four-bet to 90,000 and Szmelcer moved all in for 360,000 with Reinkemeier calling all in for 305,000.

Reinkemeier: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}
Szmelcer: {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}

With Reinkemeier in disastrous shape, the {9-Spades}{4-Clubs}{A-Spades}{6-Clubs}{K-Spades} board would ensure Reinkemeier's elimination in 20th place - just in time for the German to enter the High Roller event on the other side of the room.
