A new champion has been crowned at WSOP Paradise as Charles Hook secured his maiden bracelet and a massive score in the $50,000 PLO High Roller. Hook navigated a star-studded final table, which included poker heavyweights like Stephen Chidwick and Jason Koon, before defeating Michael Moncek in heads-up play.

The Curse is Over! Guilbert Wins Maiden Bracelet

Johan Guilbert
Johan Guilbert

Johan Guilbert has finally captured the one piece of jewelry that has eluded him for over a decade, winning his first World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet at WSOP Paradise.

After enduring three heartbreaking runner-up finishes in previous years, Guilbert broke his "heads-up curse" in spectacular fashion by conquering a 287-entry field in the $25,000 GGMillion$ Single Day Turbo for a career-best $1,534,645 payday.

Ironically, the breakthrough came now that Guilbert has transitioned from a full-time grinder to a part-time hobbyist and DJ, proving that sometimes the biggest wins happen only after the pressure of the professional grind has been removed.

Thorel Leads Final Table in $25,000 Super Main Event

Jean-Noel Thorel

Just eight players remain in the $25,000 Super Main Event, and there's a familiar face at the top of the chip counts.

Jean-Noel Thorel, who also bagged up the largest stack of Day 2b, will start the final day with the chip lead. The 78-year-old French biologist saw his remarkable run continue, scoring the final elimination of the day to open a massive lead and holding nearly 40 percent of the chips in play.

The final hand of Day 4 finished with Thorel's pocket aces holding against the kings of Leonard Maue, sending the German pro out in ninth to cap off a dramatic day in Paradise.

Before that, there was also drama, with Benny Glaser controversially slow-rolled by Eric Wasserson on the final table bubble. Read more about that here!

Viktor "Isildur1" Blom, one of the most legendary online poker players ever, took a shot at his first World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet on Tuesday in the Bahamas. But he fell short in heads-up play thanks to a flop that didn't go his way on the final hand.

The Swedish high roller, one of 284 entrants in WSOP Paradise Event #7: $10,000 Super PLOSSUS, lost in the end to Tom Vogelsang, who didn't just win his first gold bracelet. He earned just his second career WSOP cash, and first since 2021.

Phil Hellmuth made a bit of a run at his 18th bracelet by reaching Day 2, but inevitably bowed out in 16th place for $26,000. Sean Winter, Bryce Yockey, and Kane Kalas were among the 43 players who earned a piece of the $2,754,800 prize pool but didn't reach the final table.
