Wild Ride for Oganyan
Aleksejs Ponakovs opened to 12,000 before Aram Oganyan made it 36,000 from the next seat over. It folded back to Ponakovs, who four-bet to 70,000. Oganyan covered Ponakovs by 16,000 and jammed. Ponakovs called for the 170,000 more he had behind.
Ponakovs tabled K♦K♣ and was ahead of A♦K♠. The kings held on the 8♥6♣3♦8♦9♦ runout.
On the next deal, Oganyan raised to 12,000 from the hijack and was called by Harvey Jackson from the cutoff. Corey Kempson called from the big blind. It checked through to the river for the board to read A♠9♣4♠4♣Q♠. It checked to Jackson, who bet 30,000. Kempson called and Oganyan decided to preserve his last 4,000 and folded. Jackson tabled K♠8♠ for a flush and took in the pot.
Straight after, Oganyan put in his last 4,000. Jean-Noel Thorel raised to 15,000 from the button and Christoph Vogelsang came along from the big blind. Vogelsang check-folded to a bet of 15,000 on the K♦Q♥5♥ flop for the cards to go on their backs. Oganyan was ahead with Q♣9♦, while Thorel had A♣6♦. The 8♥9♣ runout kept Oganyan alive.
Now under-the-gun, Oganyan shoved for 21,000. Jackson made it 36,000 and folded out the table.
Aram Oganyan: K♣Q♠
Harvey Jackson: 10♣10♥
Oganyan took the lead on the Q♣2♥8♦ flop and remained ahead after the 3♠ turn. However, his spin up hopes ended when Jackson hit his two-outer on the 10♦ river.
"That hurt more than anything else," Oganyan laughed as he left the table.
