The under-the-gun player raised to 1,100 and was called by a player in middle position. Alex Gomes called on the button and the saw a flop roll out.
Each checked and the fell on the turn. It was checked to Gomes and he bet 1,800, chasing away the original raiser. The middle-position player called and the hit the river. Again it was checked to Gomes and he overbet the pot, putting out 8,500. His opponent quickly called and Gomes tabled for a full house. His opponent flashed , second best to Gomes' boat.
Julien Arneodo in middle position had open-raised all in, then it folded to Peuriere Christophe on the button who had reraised all in for approximately 22,000. It folded to Pasqualini in the big blind -- with only a little more left in his stack than Christophe's raise -- who thought for some time before finally folding his face up.
Christophe tabled his , and Arneodo liked his somewhat less after seeing what Pasqualini had folded. The board came , giving Christophe a needless set on the end and eliminating Arneodo.
Pasqualini stays alive with 23,500, while Christophe bounces up over the 50,000-chip mark.
A player in late position raised to 2,000 and got two callers, including the boisterous Majid Chiboub in the small blind. Chiboub is a local regular here at Casino de Marrakech, and has been chatting up his table constantly, almost as though he is hosting.
The flop came monotone -- -- and it checked to the preflop raiser who continued with a bet of 5,000. The player behind him folded, then Chiboub set out a raise to 10,000. His opponent pushed all in, and Chiboub quickly called with his remaining chips, flipping over for the nut flush. His opponent showed his and was drawing thin.
The remaining community cards were swiftly delivered -- -- and Chiboub scored a big double-up. He voiced his excitement long enough for the tournament director to visit him with a "s'il vous plaît" to calm him down.
Chiboub is now sitting quietly, although the smile on his face continues to communicate his comfort level sitting behind a stack of about 70,000.
We arrived at he table and found a hand between Nicolas Levi and Tristan Clemençon .
The flop was and Levi's bet of 1,600 had been called by Clemençon. The turn brought the and Levi slowed down with a check. Clemençon bet 3,500 and Levi called, resulting with the hitting the river. Levi checked and Clemençon did the same. It was for Levi, besting Clemençon's holdings.
Levi is up to about 78,000 while Clemençon slipped to roughly 40,000.
Marc Inizan came back from dinner feeling aggressive. He raised to 1,225, and a player behind him re-raised to 3,025. Inizan popped it up to 6,425. Not intimidated, his opponent five-bet to 13,500. Inizan couldn't have folded any faster.
"You had nothing," his opponent chided.
"Worse than nothing," Inizan responded. He's down to 29,000.
The 104 players who made it to dinner have now returned from the buffet and cards are back in the air. The plan is to play five more one-hour levels before we conclude tonight.
Anas Tadini raised to 1,200 under the gun and a player in middle position popped it to 4,200. Action folded back to Tadini and he called, bringing out a flop of .
Both opted to check and see the turn card hit. Tadini bet 4,100 and his opponent called, delivering the on the river. Tadini checked to his opponent, quickly firing 6,000. Tadini called and politely tapped the table as his opponent showed .
Marc Inizan opened with a raise to 925 from middle position, then the player in the cutoff made it 3,025. It folded back to Inizan who deliberated for a while before making the call.
The flop came all babies -- -- and Inizan didn't hesitate much before betting 4,275. His opponent, meanwhile, had to think about it, but finally made the call.
The turn then brought the . Inizan checked this time, and when his opponent bet 5,100 -- leaving himself less than that behind -- Inizan exhaled. With a look that said that turned ace was not what he wanted to see, Inizan let his hand go.
Inizan sits with about 38,000 as we approach the end of the level and the dinner break.
