Scapula to Accumulate

Another big decision for Antoine Amourette just now, as a threeway flop of {4-Diamonds} {4-Spades} {9-Spades} led to a bet from Francois-Charles Scapula, of 3,100 and a raise from Amourette to 7,600. This got rid of player #3, but Scopula swiftly moved all in. The total amount in Scapula's stack was 42,100, and although he looked at the stacks, the pot, what the call looked like when it was out of his stack etc. he eventually folded. You can never tell with Amourette, though - a long period of consideration could mean a call, fold, or raise is coming next.

Sa-Out

Former WSOP Main Event finalist Antoine Saout just got eliminated from the tournament, a simple flip loss with {10-Clubs} {10-Spades} against {A-Clubs} {J-Clubs}. The board {4-Diamonds} {J-Spades} {8-Clubs} {7-Hearts} {K-Diamonds} board brought little more than a sigh from the Frenchman and he departed wordlessly.

Elliot Smith No Longer With Us

Heading out of the cardroom now was Elliot Smith, and he was doing a slow walk, not the trot poker players use when they have to nip away from the table to the loo etc. His Ace-King fell to a pair of Queens, we were told later, and that too might have gone Phomveha's way (a quick count of that table's chips are now in order).

Rutter Attempts To Exit, Fails

Stuart Rutter got his stack in preflop with {A-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} against Alexander Roumeliotis' {A-} {K-} and immediately began to pack up his things and walk away from the table.

Flop:

{9-Hearts} {5-Spades} {10-Diamonds}

Rutter Status: Still walking away.

Turn:

{7-Hearts}

Rutter Status: Walking away but turning to look in hope, almost away from table.

River:

{Q-Hearts}

Rutter Status: Surprise and relief, returning to table.

Roumeliotis takes a substantial hit, Rutter back up to about 48,000.

Microbrewery

The tiny stacks are fomenting trouble every which way now, as the blinds of 1k/2k take their toll and don't leave room for waiting around - you'd think...

Paul Testud, never out of the danger zone, just got the last of his chips in, around 10k, in admittedly a good spot with {K-Hearts} {K-Diamonds} vs. {K-Clubs} {10-Spades}, won, and still has a mountain of climbing to do to approach the leaders.

Even more extreme might be Claus Uhrsvov, who started the day with just 15,850, and unless there has been an unnoticed rollercoaster ride in the corner, has just dwindled to 7k, although he looks fairly cheery.

Antoine Saout has joined the ranks of the supershort too, after losing a race with {K-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} vs. the {9-Clubs} {9-Hearts} of Samlane Phomveha (who himself was in some need of a double). Saout dropped to just 8,900 though declined to play any of the next few hands.

Stacks Get Deeper

Aurelien Guiglini has added to his stack knocking out a short stack with {A-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} against {A-Hearts} {J-Hearts} on a hilariously topsy-turvy {6-Spades} {K-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} board.

Meanwhile we have just 81 players remaining and the average stack is around 91BB's, so the remaining players certainly aren't going to be short on chips for now.

Passing The Chips Around

Alex Kravchenko raised UTG to 2,500 before Stuart Rutter popped it up to 7,500 with about 25,000 behind. The Russian mucked, score one for the UK.

A couple of hands later and Rutter opened to 2,800 from UTG, this time Kravchenko reraised to 7,800 from the small blind. Before Rutter could act though, Mika Paasonen tanked long and hard in the big blind before eventually folding while Rutter meekly mucked as well.

Afterwards, Passonen told Rutter he folded Jacks...

Rutter nodded, "Difficult with the stack sizes..."

AJ>AK x2

That's a formula for heartache for Eric Fourniols, who's a goner after getting his short stack (around 15k) in preflop with {A-Hearts} {K-Clubs} called by Stephane Albertini with {A-Diamonds} {J-Hearts} and a much bigger stack. It was going to be hard for Fourniols to recover from the {J-Diamonds} {J-Spades} {7-Spades} flop, and he knew it, standing up and taking his exit as the other two cards came six-high.

Elsewhere Jerome Antona doubled up another short stack with the same hand match-up, although this time the majority was check-raised in on the {5-Spades} {4-Clubs} {J-Hearts} flop. He made the call with the big slick but lost a total of 40k on that hand.
