Leppanen Shoves On Tony G And Boujenah

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Ilan Boujenah got the betting round started with a raise to 10,000 from under the gun. Nobody wanted to take on the live-wire until the action passed to Tony G in the small blind and the Lithuanian made the call. Next to act was Jusso Leppanen, a well-built Finn and he decided now was the time to get his 119,500 chips into the middle. He was all-in.

Boujenah is a player who prefers to shove rather than call a shove and he pondered for a solid minute before folding. Tony G also folded and Leppanen scooped the pot.

Tony G Doubles Through Genovesi

Tony G has doubled up through Jackson Genovesi and is now back in business in the WPT Malta main event.

The pair shared a flop reading {10-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{4-Hearts}, a flop that Tony G checked, Genovesi bet 17,500 and Tony G check-raised to 110,000. Genovesi moved all in and Tony G made the call.

Tony G's {10-Clubs}{10-Spades} were in front of the {j-Hearts}{7-Hearts} and they stayed in front as the turn and river were the {2-Clubs} and {a-Spades} respectively and Tony G climbs to 340,000.

Maurizio Arca Eliminated In 18th Place (€5,900)

Maurizio Arca
Maurizio Arca

Maurizio Arca has just been eliminated over on Table 1.

Hui Chen Kuo opened from UTG+1 to 10,000 and after the next three players folded Tony G made the call. To Tony G's left was Maurizio Arca and he squeezed all-in for 35,000 in total. Hui Chen Kuo then re-shoved over the top and Tony G got out of the way, albeit reluctantly.

Hui Chen Kuo: {A-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}
Arca: {A-Spades}{7-Spades}

Arca took an unlikely lead on the {q-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{q-Spades} flop and when the {9-Clubs} landed on the turn it looked like Arca would double up. However, those thoughts were soon put to bed when the {10-Clubs} fell on the river and sent Arca to the rail.

Chip Counts From The Final Two Tables

Caprioli Crushed

Rodrigo Caprioli has busted out of the WPT Malta Main Event when his top pair, made with {j-}{10-} on a {j-}{9-}{5-} flop, ran into the pocket queens of Daniele Mazzia.

To add insult into injury Mazzia turned a third queen then hit a fourth on the river to send Caprioli to the rail.

Rinaldi Busted By Tony G

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Claudio Rinaldi's tournament has come to an end at the hands of Tony G. Rinaldi got his short stack into the middle with {8-Hearts}{8-Spades} and Tony G three-bet all-in over the top with what turned out to be {A-Clubs}{2-Spades}.

Tony G spiked an ace on the {a-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{9-Spades} and he stayed in the lead as the {6-Spades} fell on the turn, followed by the {j-Spades} on the river and we are down to just 19 players in the Main Event.

He got his chips into the middle with {a-Hearts}{8-Clubs} and ran straight into Francesco Favia's {j-Clubs}{j-Hearts}. The five community cards fell {9-Spades}{7-Spades}{5-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} and Nabuurs busted.

Ryynanen Five-Bet Folds

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Sampo Ryynanen has gained a reputation for being a loose-aggressive player and Yorane Keringard has either picked up on that or picked up aces just now.

Keringard opened from the cutoff to 8,000 and immediately faces a three-bet to 22,000 from Ryynanen on the button. With the action back on Keringard, he four-bet to 34,000. Ryynanen then five bet to 75,000 but that was not the end of the betting because Keringard six-bet to 118,000.

Ryynanen smirked before folding his hand.
