Plan For Today

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

The tournament will play 10 levels of 45 minutes each. After the first three levels there will be a 45 minute break, then three more levels and a 15 minute break. A further two levels will be followed by a final 15 minute break before the last two levels round off the day.

Day 1d will then commence at 8 p.m. today and follow the same structure.

Numbers Climbing

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

We look set for another large field today as there are currently 140 players at the tables with 16 re-entries. No bust outs yet.

Big Bet Pressure

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Heads-up to a flop of {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} on table 15 and there was a bet of 350 from seat eight. The player in seat seven was sporting a Winamax WIP patch and he raised it up to 2,450 which seemed to befuddle his opponent.

After a couple minutes ticked by, the Winamax player looked at his opponent and widened his eyes. Not long after that the pot was his as his opponent mucked his cards and the chips were gathered with noticeably trembling hands as the adrenaline was released.

Reluctant River Fold

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

There is a relatively subdued atmosphere in the dedicated poker room so far today, which is not too surprising given the early hour and the prospect of a long day ahead. That doesn’t mean there aren’t moments of tension however.

On Table 15 three players had got to the river of a board reading {q-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{a-Clubs}. The player in seat six was first to act and he bet 6,000 into a pot of 11,000. The player to his left mucked his cards pretty quickly but the player in seat eight looked tortured. His hands gripped his cards in his left hand and he seemed to change his mind several times over the few minutes it took to decide. His opponent sat patiently and eventually what looked like a reluctant fold did come with no further remarks. It was a valuable pot but the calling chips remained in his stack for another time.

Welcome to Day 1c of the PMU.fr WPT National Paris at the Cercle Clichy Montmartre.

Two flights were completed yesterday and we are set for two more today before players progress to one of the two Day 2 starting flights.

This WPT National Main Event is a €1,200 buy-in with 30k starting stack and 45 minute levels until Day 3. Late registration closes after 9 Levels with re-entries only allowed from one day to another (Day 1A to Day 1B, Day 1B to Day 1C, Day 1C to Day 1D).

WPT National Main Event players are allowed up to four entries into the tournament and players that have played both Day 1A and Day 1B (or any kind of combinations on two days) have the option to choose either their Day 1A or Day 1B stack to bring to Day 2.

There are two more chances to fire another bullet in this event to swell the prize pool and give one lucky player a big pay out and the title of WPT National Champion in what is likely to be a battle between regulars at this popular local club and some of the circuit professionals.

Guillaume Wilhelm is the man to catch so far as he finished with 177,700 on Day 1a. Franck Makaci finished top of the Day 1b leader board with 146,000.

Cards are in the air at 10 a.m. and PokerNews will bring you all the action from the ten 45-minute levels of poker in what has already proved to be a hotly contested tournament. Stay tuned to find out who comes top of the heap as we follow the story and another chapter is written into WPT history.
