Antoine Saout Grabs Chip Lead at the Death

In a day which saw the bubble burst almost without incident, Day 3 of the 2014 partypoker World Poker Tour UK Main Event was defined by two big moments. Tamer Kamel busting three players in two hands giving himself an average stack for the final table of six with 30 players left, was the first, but that matched topped by the final hand of the night.
Simply because of that last hand, which saw Fraser Macintyre depart in 17th place with just 13 minutes left of the fifth level of the day, former World Series of Poker November Niner Antoine Saout finished the day as chip leader. The pot was worth over 2 million in chips, and with it Saout stood alone with 2.317 million — over 500,000 more than anyone else. Kamel consolidated his stack to remain in second place with 1.782 million, while Ben Warrington finished as the only other person over seven figures, with 1.294 million.
The bubble was quickly reached inside the first level of the day, and Ian Simpson was the unlucky man during the third hand of hand-for-hand play. Simpson had shoved with the

to guarantee the remaining 45 players a minimum payout of £6,000.
Among those to pick up the minimum payout were Sin Melin, Morten Mortensen, Sergio Aido, and Chris Moorman. Moorman lost a crucial flip with nines to Dahe Liu's ace-king before the British player put his remaining chips in with king-queen against Antonio Buonanno's ace-jack and was unable to spike. Buonanno himself would go on to become a victim of Kamel's streak to the top, while Peters (30th for £6,500) and Jake Cody (26th for £7,000) were other notable exits.
Still remaining are Sylvain Loosli (523,000), Day 2 chip leader Adrian Mateos (443,000), former top ranked online player in the world Patrick Leonard (290,000), and the short-stacked Luca Moschitta (158,000).
On Saturday, the tournament will play down from 16 to the final six, however long that takes. On Sunday, the final table will be played with holecards face up on a delayed live stream.
