Hand-for-Hand Play Begins

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

With only 82 players remaining, we're on the direct money bubble. The next elimination will put the players in the money. Play is now hand-for-hand.

They're In the Money!

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

The eliminations have been fast today, and the money bubble was no different. The tournament clock was reading 84 players remaining, then quickly dropped to 83. Before the play could even play a single round of hand-for-hand, two eliminations burst through the money bubble.

Martin Bailey got it all in preflop with {10-Spades}{10-Hearts} and Darryll Fish put his opponent's tournament life at risk when he forced him to a race with his {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}.

The board ran out {j-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} and Fish knocked out Bailey with his turned diamond flush. All remaining players are now guaranteed a payout of at least $5,860.

There are 77 players heading to the final break of the night. They'll play just one more level before bagging up for Day 3 tomorrow.

While they're away from the table, the dealers are colouring up the 500-denomination chips as the blinds will be 4,000/8,000 with a 1,000 ante when they return.

McDonald Regrets His Bet

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

On a flop of {9-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}, Mike Linster checked, Brian Altman checked, and Mike McDonald bet 35,000.

With action back on Linster, he called. Altman pushed all in to put his two opponents to a decision.

McDonald folded, as did Linster.

"Wish I'd checked that flop," McDonald said.

"Me too, man." Linster agreed. "Nice combo, bro," he said to Altman.

Two Pairs vs Two Pairs

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Gregoire Denis raised to 18,000 and Carlos Sanchez came along to see a flop of {4-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{6-Diamonds}.

Sanchez checked, Denis bet 25,000, and Sanchez called.

The turn card was the {3-Diamonds} and both players quickly checked. The river came {3-Clubs} and Sanchez led out for 25,000. Denis made the call.

Sanchez turned over {10-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} and Denis shook his head in disappointment, flipping up {j-Spades}{6-Spades}.

Hall Gets It In

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

In the second-last hand of the night, Cate Hall pushed all in and was called off by David Quang with a big hand.

Hall flipped over {a-}{j-} and Quang held {k-}{k-}. The flop came {10-}{10-}{10-} and the turn was the {q-}. The river was a blank and Hall was eliminated late in the day, sending her chips to Quang.
