2014 WPT National Valkenburg champion Niels van Leeuwen
WPT National Valkenburg returns to Holland Casino in October for its second sell out instalment. Following on the success of last years event and WPT Amsterdam, the World Poker Tour has released the schedule for the poker festival in the Southern Hill.
The WPT Main Event buy-in will this year be €675+€75 and will take place October 1-4, 2015 with the €1350+€150 High Roller taking place just before (September 30- October 1).
Last year it was Dutchman Niels van Leeuwen who took down the Main Event after beating a field of 402 entries to take down the first-place prize of €40,000. The final table also included Dutch poker legend Marcel Lüske and Joep van den Bijgaart, the latter who's still battling it out in this very tournament with just 10 players remaining.
The total prize pool last year was just shy of €200,000 and the expectations are that these numbers will be beaten in this year's edition. Here's the schedule:

Pim van Riet raised it up to 53,000 from the hijack and Steve Warburton in the big blind was the sole caller.
Warburton check-called a bet of 78,000 on , and lead out 162,000 on the turn. Van Riet made the call.
Warburton needed some time to decide on his bet when the hit the river. He eventually decided on 298,000 and Van Riet almost instantly called by tossing in a single 25,000 chip. He soon needed to add the other 273,000 as Warburton showed for a rivered full house, and Van Riet couldn't beat that.
Fredrik Andersson raised it up to 52,000 before the flop from the hijack position and Joep van den Bijgaart in the big blind was the only caller. Van den Bijgaart check-called a bet of 56,000 on , and check-called another 86,000 on the turn. The river came the and Van den Bijgaart checked. Andersson gave it some thoughts, before checking behind. Van den Bijgaart showed and Andersson mucked.
Jason Wheeler raised to 52,000 under the gun and picked up no less than three callers; Fredrik Andersson (under the gun plus one), Pim van Riet (hijack) and Steve Warburton (big blind).
The flop came and Warburton checked. initial raiser Wheeler checked as well and Andersson took the betting lead making it 87,000. Van Riet called, and so did Warburton. Wheeler folded.
The fell on the turn and Warburton checked again. Andersson bet 176,000 now and Van Riet reluctantly folded.
"Weird hand" Warburton said after a minute of tanking. He checked his cards at least three times, and then open folded . "I also had an over pair" Van Riet said. "It was a nice fold" Andersson said while raking in the chips.
Aki Pyysing shoved under the gun for 144,000 (6 big blinds) and action folded to Jason Wheeler in the small blind. The American pro inquired how much it was, and then called. Andersson in the big blind instantly folded.
Aki Pyysing:
Jason Wheeler:
Pyysing was in the lead, but it was Wheeler that would hit the flop: . The on the turn didn't do Pyysing any good, and neither did the on the river.
Aki Pyysing leaves the tournament in 8th place, taking home €27,500. The remaining 7 players are guaranteed €34,000.
Action folded to Farid Yachou and he opened to 55,000 from the cutoff. Small blind Jason Wheeler three-bet to 130,000 and big blind Fredrik Andersson tanked for a bit before folding. Yachou made the call in position.
The flop came and Wheeler bet out 130,000. Yachou moved all in and Wheeler instantly asked for a count. Before the tournament director was done counting, Wheeler had already made up his mind and said "call, I call!"
Faris Yachou:
Jason Wheeler:
The on the turn sealed the double up deal for Yachou, the on the river didn't change a thing.
