Lakemeier Busts Spiehs

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Jens Lakemeier
Jens Lakemeier

Ivan Stefanovic opened to 2,700 from the cutoff and Benjamin Spiehs three bet to 7,900 from the small blind. Jens Lakemeier in the big blind had bigger plans though, and cold four bet to 13,000 after about 20 seconds of thinking.

Stefanovic wanted none of it, but Spiehs called instantly.

The flop came {J-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{10-Clubs} and both Spiehs and Lakemeier checked. The {9-Hearts} hit the turn and Spiehs bet 13,000. Lakemeier called. The {Q-Spades} completed the board and Spiehs shoved all in for 33,000. Lakemeier called instantly.

Spiehs: {K-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}
Lakemeier: {K-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}

Spiehs thought they chopped it with their straights, but he overlooked the flopped flush for Lakemeier. Spiehs shook hands with Lakemeier not much later, and headed for the exit.

Koren Busts Mulsow

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Vladimir Shchemelev opened for 2,000 under the gun and Artur Koren two positions down made the call. Knut Nystedt in the small blind made the call and action was on Martin Mulsow in the big blind. Mulsow shoved all in for approximately 26,000 and Shchemelev quickly folded.

Koren wasn't so quick to lay his hand down though. He informed how much it was, asked how much Nystedt was playing (about 42,000), and then put a big stack of black 5,000 chips forward. Nystedt immediately folded.

Martin Mulsow: {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}
Artur Koren: {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}

The {6-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} flop was no direct help to Mulsow. He picked up some outs with the {Q-Clubs} on the turn, but the {5-Spades} was the wrong kind of black and Koren could start stacking.

Koren Gets Paid

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

We caught up with the action on a board of {7-Hearts}{7-Spades}{5-Clubs}{4-Hearts}. Koren lead out from the big blind for 2,800 and his opponent Mario Eder in middle position made the call.

The river came the {2-Spades} and Koren now bet out 5,600. Eder quickly called, but mucked upon seeing Koren's {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}.

He Gave It His Best

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

Christopher Frank was one of the 14 players signing up for the tournament earlier this morning. He started out with 30,000, but has zero left at the moment.

His seat was vacant and we asked Manig Loeser what had happened.

Loeser told us that Frank had opened from early position with about 20 big blinds to start the hand. Josef Klinger in the big blind was the only caller.

The flop came {Q-}{4-Spades}{5-Spades} and Klinger checked to Frank. Frank bet out 1,800 and Klinger jammer all in. Frank made the call holding {A-Spades}{Q-}, Klinger had {Q-Spades}{J-Spades}.

The flush came in on the turn, and no fourth spade popped up on the river so Frank was eliminated.

Manig Loeser himself is in need of a double up, he has about 16,000 at the moment (20 big blinds).

Sotiropoulos Doubles Through Gulas

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

Georgios Sotiropoulos apparently lost a bunch of chips early on, as he now doubled but still has fewer chips than he started out with today.

He got it in with {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts} from the cutoff against Josef Gulas in the big blind with {A-Spades}{J-Clubs}. It looked like the last chips went in on the flop of {4-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{7-Spades}. The {K-Hearts} on the turn and {9-Clubs} on the river were blanks, and Sotiropoulos doubled.
