No less than 14 players signed up at the last moment for the 2015 partypoker World Poker Tour Vienna Main Event, bringing the total amount of entries to an even 220. With €150,000 reserved for the winner, the tournament will be paying out 27 players a minimum of €5,480. Reaching the final nine will net someone €14,350, and making it to the six-handed final table banks each player a minimum of €29,500.

On Day 2, the tournament had five levels on the schedule, but the money wasn't reached. After the five 90-minute levels passed, there were 44 players left, so Day 3 will be the day the bubble bursts.

Fedor Holz started out as the chip leader, and maintained that position for most of the day. He didn't get into too much trouble. In fact, he won a 200,000-chip pot without showdown before the first break. After losing a bit to Sotirios Koutoupas and doubling up Thomas Bichon in an unlucky flush-over-flush hand, Holz still had heaps left and he ended the day with 416,600 in chips — good for second place overall.

Number three on the chip count leaderboard after Day 2 was Austrian grinder Pascal Hartmann. The biggest hand he won was against Frederik Jensen, where both flopped top pair and both hit trips aces on the turn. Jensen check-called all the way, only to see the bad news by the time he paid off the river.

Austria's number two on the all-time money list, Thomas Muehloecker, wouldn't be so lucky. He didn't start out with too many chips and lost those soon enough in a nines-versus-queens hand against Rumen Nanev.

Both the number one (Josef Klinger) and number three (Erich Kollmann) of Austria's all-time money list are still in, though. Halfway during the day we did the math and concluded that Kollmann needed to win or get second and Klinger needed to bust before the money in order for Kollmann to overtake Klinger as Austria's winningest player. That seamed a reality far far away as Klinger was one of the chip leaders at the time, while Kollmann had just a couple of big blinds. At the closing of the day, the situation was still the same; Kollmann had 38,500 in chips and Klinger a bit more with 97,400.

The chip leader is Dzimitry Urbanovich with 495,600 in chips. The young Polish player busted on both Day 1a and 1b, but built the 30,00-chip starting stack he started with today up to almost half a million.

The final 44 players will be back Sunday, March 15 at 2 p.m. local time for Day 3 of the WPT Vienna Main Event. Another five 90-minute levels are scheduled, or down to 16 or 18 players, something the tournament director will decide. PokerNews will again be present from the first flop till the last river, so check back for more updates of coolers, bad beats, incredible value bets, and nasty suck outs.

Klinger Loses Lots, Doubles Lucky Moments Later

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Josef Klinger first lost a big pot to Jens Lakemeier. Lakemeier opened and Klinger called from the big blind. Klinger check called a bet of 5,000 on {Q-}{8-}{8-} and checked again on the {K-} turn. Lakemeier bet 16,000 and Klinger check raised to 32,000, Lakemeier called. The river was the {Q-} and Klinger bet out 45,000. Lakemeier shoved all in and Klinger made the call. Lakemeier showed {8-}{10-} for flopped trips and Klinger mucked.

Klinger was down to 60,000 after that hand, and lost another pot to be down to under 30,000 by the time action folded to him on the button. He opened to 4,000 and Ihsan Mert in the small blind and Jamila Von Perger in the big blind called.

The flop came {9-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{9-Clubs} and action checked to Klinger who bet 6,000. Mert folded, Von Perger made the call.

The turn came the {4-Diamonds} and Von perger checked again. Klinger shoved all in for 13,400 and Von Perger instantly called with her {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades}. She was unpleasantly surprised when Klinger showed {9-Spades}{5-Spades} for flopped trips. The river came the {J-Hearts} and Von Perger couldn't believe what happened to her and stood up in dispair, walked around a little bit and sighed deeply a couple of times.

Klinger finished the job some hands later when Von Perger shoved {A-Spades}{7-Spades} and he called with {J-}{10-}, hitting a jack on the flop to sent Von Perger packing.

Hartmann Hits Big, Jensen Pays Off Big

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Frederik Jensen
Frederik Jensen

Frederik Jensen opened under the gun for 4,000 and his next door neighbor Pascal Hartmann three bet to 11,500. Action folded back to Jensen who made the call.

The flop came {6-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} and Jensen check called a bet of 11,500 by Hartmann.

The same course of action was seen on the {A-Spades} turn; check (Jensen), bet (21,000 by Hartmann), call (Jensen).

The {7-Hearts} on the river completed the board and Jensen checked a third time. Hartmann now bet 48,200 and Jensen pondered for a while before calling.

Hartmann showed {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs} and Jensen sighed, flashed the {A-Hearts}, and mucked.

"You Have Nines... Hopefully"

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Jens Lakemeier
Jens Lakemeier

We missed the pre flop and flop action, but heard the details from our German colleague after the hand had finished.

Jens Lakemeier opened to 4,500 and Josef Gulas three bet to 11,000. Lakemeier four bet to 23,000 when the action folded back to him. Gulas made the call.

On the flop of {3-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{10-Spades}, Lakemeier bet 16,000 and Gulas called.

We got there on the turn when the {J-Diamonds} appeared. Lakemeier bet 26,000 and Gulas called with about 45,000 behind.

With an already sizable pot, the {A-Hearts} completed the board and Lakemeier checked. Gulas thought for just a bit before announcing all in.

Lakemeier let out a big sigh, he clearly wasn't too happy with the situation.

Lakemeier eventually grabbed a single 100 chip, said "You have nines... Hopefully" and made the call.

Gulas had no nines, and instead showed up with {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for a flopped top pair, turned flush draw, and rivered two pair. Lakemeier smashed his {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds} on the table and angrily started counting out 44,900 to hand over.
