Can Shouman be Stopped?
Rami Shouman has a monster stack and he is running over the table, torturing his opponents with constant raises and a refusal to fold against shorter stacks. Any attempt to bet small against him on early streets and he takes it away on later streets. Just reaching for chips has made some opponents on the table toss their cards to the dealer. On his left is player with a stack of 17,000, Shouman has over 100,000. He also has a tower of green 25 chips, so he gets to be the change guy. He’s loving life.
Then one man made a stand. Shouman bet his usual 1,100 and faced a raise from Roger Hairabedian from the big blind. Shouman called, of course he did. The dangerous looking flop of ![]()

did not deter Hairabedian who led for 4,000. Shouman called. The
hit the turn. 8,000 bet from Hairabedian and a call from the chip leader. The river was
completing any flush draws that were lurking out there. Could Hairabedian keep his nerve?
He could and bet 15,000 with not much more of that left behind. Shouman duly raised to 36,000 representing huge strength. This was no time to back down for Hairabedian who moved all in. If Shouman had anything surely he was getting the right price but he just said “Nice hand, you got it?”
