A Few Hands with Dominik Nitsche

Level 5 : 150/300, 50 ante

Dominik Nitsche is all nervous energy at the table. When he doesn’t have cards in front of him he is tapping on his phone or fiddling hyperactively with his chips, but when he does have cards he is scanning the table like a Meerkat with a concealed flick-knife. PokerNews spent a while at his table to see how he is getting on. At this stage he was sitting on a healthy stack of around 57,000.

Rinat Bogdanov, who has been fairly active at the table, bet 700 from first position and Nitsche defended from the big blind. We saw a flop of {k-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{9-Hearts}. NItsche check / folded when Bogdanov bet.

Nitsche then folded his button facing a bet. The next hand, again facing a bet of 700, this time from the player to his direct right, he raised to 1,700 and took it down without any resistance.

Nitsche folded the next hand but opened the hand after for 700. Facing a raise from Oleg Suntsov to 1,800 Nitsche asked for a count, and deciding they were deep enough, made the call. The two players saw a flop of {7-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} which was duly checked around. The turn was the {j-Diamonds} prompting Nitsche to bet 1,200 and call a raise of 2,500.

The river card was the {q-Diamonds} and when Nitsche checked Suntsov bet 2,500. This prompted Nitsche to think for a while and mull over his options. The one he chose was a raise but was quickly called and responded “You win.” Turning over his {3-Diamonds}{3-Spades}. Suntsov did win with {q-Spades}{5-Diamonds}. Ouch.
