Day Four Math

With 54 players remaining, here are some interesting numbers about the make-up of the field.

With the average stack @ 292,693:
21 players are above average;
33 players are below average;
7 players are more than double average;
the top 7 players are between 600K and 700K.

10 players are under 100K
27 total players are under 200K

Blinds will begin today @ 5K/10K with a 1K ante.

So there are at least a half a dozen players whose only move is all-in and over half the field who would be all-in to play back at any significant raise.

As the Money Begins

Our first nine departures today (places 46-54) will take home $22,780., which represents an average pay scale of approximately $387 an hour for the four days of work. Not a bad rate.

Mind you, however, last night's bubble boy played 33 hours of poker over three days at a rate of exactly $0.00/hr.

Level: 17

Blinds: 4,000/8,000

Ante: 1,000

One Down

Nick Binger and Gary Kainer
Nick Binger and Gary Kainer
Nick Binger moves in with KQ and gets called by Gary Kainer with AK; both the A and the K hit the flop and we have our 54th place finisher.

NICK BINGER 54th $22,780

One of the Good Guys (Bill Edler)

Our Day Four chipleader has slowly but surely become a known force in the world of Poker. Bill Edler's most recent accomplishment was a win in the Crystal Park Casino Heads-Up just two weeks ago. Bill moved through a big name field here in LA including defeating Barry Greenstein in the Heads-Up finals.

Yesterday, Bill was unhappy with his play in the early evening but kept his cool and his patience and then played a pair of pocket rockets perfectly to double up and put himself back near the top of the leaderboard. Late steady play rewarded Bill with the top spot entering today's Day Four.

Known to the poker media as one of the truly good guys on the poker circuit, Bill lives in Las Vegas with his new wife and daughter. They were married this past summer on the eve of the 2006 WSOP.

About the only leak detectable in Bill's game is a fundamental math problem. Bill likes to keep his stacks in exact sizes and is often seen trading chips with other players to maintain a uniformity of chip stacks and colors. When asked about this behavior: superstition? artistic merit? witchcraft? Bill responded: "No, I just am not very good at math. Earlier today I forget whether I had 260,000 or 360,000. The well ordered stacks are because I can't count."
