Stout Hits the Rail

Matt Stout - All Out at 4:10
Matt Stout - All Out at 4:10
We missed the preflop action, coming to Matt Stout's table only after the dealer burned and turned a flop of {5-Diamonds} {A-Spades} {6-Hearts}. Stout, sitting in the small blind, was first to act. He moved all in for 5,975. That bet folded one player and brought the action to Esther Taylor. She asked the dealer to spread the pot (about 10,500, not including Stout's bet) and then started talking to herself.

"...I'm only worried about this guy's..."
"...shoving pre..."
"I don't believe you, Matt. I never do."
"...airball..."

Finally, Taylor called.

"Nor should you believe me," said a disappointed Stout as he revealed {9-Hearts} {8-Diamonds}, a total airball. Taylor showed {J-Hearts} {J-Clubs}. "Gah! I almost got her off it."

The board ran out {10-Spades} and {A-Diamonds}, giving Taylor the pot. Stout was eliminated.

H@££INGGOL All In at 4:08

Under the gun, Frederick "H@££INGGOL" Halling opened the pot by moving all in for his remaining chips (roughly 5,000). The action folded around to Matt "allinat420" Stout, and he too moved all in, splashing his last 7,600 chips into the center. The rest of the table ducked out of the way and it was Halling whose tournament life was in jeopardy.

Stout quickly tabled his {A-Hearts} {A-Clubs}. "Oh," said Halling, stopping dead in his tracks. "You have two aces. I was going to tell you I had two aces, but then only show you one. That's not gonna work now, is it?" With that, he opened up his own hand, revealing {A-Diamonds} {J-Hearts}.

Standing up to await his fate, H@££INGGOL saw the dealer run what would be his final board of the day. "Give him a gutshot on the flop, make it interesting!" pleaded Stout, halfway joking. The community cards came {4-Clubs} {5-Spades} {2-Spades} {K-Clubs} {10-Clubs}, and Halling could find no help. With that, he stood, wished his table luck, and made his way toward the exit.

Mouse Caught

Esther Taylor
Esther Taylor
Three tens seemed like a good hand for Mickey "Mouse" Mills, but Esther Taylor caught him with a better hand. Mills was the preflop raiser, making it 600 to go. Taylor called from the button and was joined by the big blind for a flop of {2-Hearts} {10-Spades} {10-Hearts}. Everyone checked. When the dealer produced the {9-Diamonds} on the turn, Mills opened the action for 800. Taylor quickly raised to 2,050, folding the big blind. Mills called that bet, then called another 3,000 when the river blanked {7-Clubs}. He showed {10-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} for three tens, but Taylor had him out-kicked with {10-Clubs} {Q-Spades}.

Sit-Down Comedy

Corwin Cole caught in a brief moment of seriousness
Corwin Cole caught in a brief moment of seriousness
In stark contrast to the air of seriousness that is permeating the room, Table 17 occasionally bursts into boisterous laughter as if they're at stand-up comedy show. Wandering over, we can see that it's Corwin Cole who is indeed performing something of an impromptu comedy routine. For about five solid minutes, Cole was running through a gamut of accents and impressions, from Australian royalty to Irish bums, and everything in between. He had the entire table in hysterics, and that levity has rubbed off on his table mates as well.

In the last pot there, Jamie Robbins opened the betting with a raise. Action folded to Evan McNiff and he took a minute to consider. "You have crazy hair like Chad Brown... and I run bad against Chad Brown. I fold." After that little bit of twisted logic, the sit-down comedy routine started up again on the other side of the table.

At least a few people are having some fun in here today.

A Chip Leader Emerges

Loren Egide
Loren Egide
Ladies and gentlemen, meet your chip leader. While the rest of the field is tirelessly grinding out small pots here in the early stages, Table 1 has been splashing chips around furiously. Loren "Lush" Egide has become the beneficiary of that action, as he has chipped his way up to 79,000 as a result. That's good enough to make him the big stack in the room, and it's a room he's familiar with. Last year, Egide ran deep in a preliminary event here, finishing up in 11th place and earning his first career live tournament cash.

He's well on his way to improving upon that finish here in the Big Show this year. It's still early, but Egide is leading the pack towards the second break.

Another Setback for Binger

It might not be Michael Binger's day. After an early hit, Binger rebuilt his stack to about the starting level. But all his work came undone after a hand that started with his raise to 450 from middle position. Two players called, including the button. Binger bet 1,200 after the flop came down {2-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} {8-Spades}, and another 2,600 on the {J-Hearts} turn. He didn't stop when the dealer produced the {A-Spades} as the river card, betting another 4,500.

Binger's opponent, who had been passively calling from the button the whole way, came alive with a raise to 12,000 on the river. Binger mucked his hand, prompting Matt Stout to shout,"SHOW THE BLUFF!" Binger's opponent turned over {8-Diamonds} {8-Clubs}, a set of eights.

Mouse Trap

Harold Kruger - Eliminated
Harold Kruger - Eliminated
With multi-way action in front of him, Mickey "Mouse" Mills moved all in for 13,000 from the small blind. In middle position, Harold Kruger made the call, putting himself at-risk of elimination. Moving around to late position, a man called simply Schultz made the call as well, having both opponents just barely covered.

Showdown:
Mills: {Q-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds}
Kruger: {7-Hearts} {7-Clubs}
Schultz: {A-Spades} {K-Diamonds}

With all three players standing to await their fate, the dealer ran out the board: {5-Spades} {J-Spades} {6-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} {9-Spades}. Mickey Mills' pocket pair held up, and he more than tripled his way to 42,500 chips. In his wake, he left Schultz on the short stack and sent Harold Kruger towards the exit as well.
