Tran's Five-Bet Shove Goes Awry

John Kulish has been involved in a lot of pots at Table 42 in the first hour of play. He was at it again, four-betting to 75,000 from the small blind after Steve Billirakis opened with a raise to 7,500 that Duy Tran re-raised on the button to 17,500. Billirakis quickly folded, leaving Tran alone against Kulish with similar-sized stacks of about 160,000. Tran opted to five-bet shove with 
and was snap-called by Kulish's

, but never improved. When the stacks were counted down, Kulish had Tran covered by about 5,000 chips.
"I love you man, but it's poker," said Kulish as he wrapped Tran in a bear hug. Tran nodded, smiled weakly, then trudged out of the tournament room. Kulish is up to about 325,000.
