Day 2 Completed

The Table is Set For Ten

Level 26 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante
Todd Wood takes the chip lead into Day 3
Todd Wood takes the chip lead into Day 3

Well, that's a wrap for Day 2 of this WSOP-C Main Event.

From a starting field of 382, just 70 returned to the stage for this moving day. The goal was to play down to the final table, but play was called after twelve hours on the felt. Ten players remained, and the chip math said we were supposed to be done by this point. At the end of the level, the floorman told the players that the stop time had come, but they could play on if they all wanted to. Jake Bazeley was already standing from his chair, and he raised his hand and said, "I wanna stop." That's that. With the bags out, it's Todd Wood with the most work to, stuffing 1,619,000 chips into the thin plastic sack.

The day began with Mario Silvestri and Allie Prescott way out in front of the field, but both of them would have to settle for small cashes after running aground today. Prescott went out in mouth-puckering fashion, running his second-place stack and pocket kings into the chip leader's aces with 18 players left. He was awfully disappointed as he picked up his check -- but at least he had some money waiting for him when he dropped. The same could not be said for the likes of Adam Levy, Keith Crowder, Aaron Massey, and a couple dozen others who were forced to leave with empty hands today.

When the bubble burst at 45 players, the action exploded. Michael Traylor and Mike Beasley were two of the first to go home with small paychecks, and they were soon followed out the door by Circuit studs Dwyte Pilgrim and Mstr Lynch. We expected to fill out this paragraph with the story of the final table bubble boy, but his story is yet to be written as the "official" final table has not been reached.

That leaves our final ten players set for tomorrow's run to the ring. Here's how the table will stack up when the players return to the felt tomorrow:

7Todd Wood1,619,000

The final table runs at 2:00 sharp tomorrow afternoon, and we'll be back on the rail to bring you the last chapter of this final Main Event of the 2010-11 Circuit season.

Until tomorrow, all that's left is goodnight.

A Payne in Waxman's Neck

Level 26 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

On the very next hand, Matt Waxman called with a chance for another knockout. It was Billie Payne shipping his short stack of 210,000 into the middle from early position, and Waxman put in the call from the button. Payne's {A-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} was in good shape against {K-Clubs} {Q-Hearts}, and the {10-Spades} {3-Hearts} {5-Spades} {4-Hearts} {5-Clubs} board locked up his double.

It's another bad orbit for Waxman, but he's shaken a couple of these off already today. This last double leaves him a bit short with 540,000, but he's still ahead of Payne's 506,000 for now.

No Rest For the Weary

Level 26 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante
Joshua Evans
Joshua Evans

We're not done just yet.

From the button, Joshua Evans raised to 57,000, and Matt Waxman three-bet to 130,000 from the small blind. Evans response was an all-in shove for 483,000, and Waxman made the call with his {A-Hearts} {J-Hearts}. Evans was at risk and in bad shape as he tabled his dominated {A-Clubs} {4-Clubs}.

The flop brought some life as it came {6-Clubs} {J-Clubs} {8-Hearts} to give Evans nine more outs to play with. He only needed one more card to find the {10-Clubs} on the turn, and the river {3-Clubs} just added insult to Waxman's injury. He's falled back to about 760,000 after dropping that pot, while Evans leapfrogs up to 1.02 million.

Bazeley Gets on Craig's List

Level 26 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

Under the gun, Lance Craig raised to 58,000, and Jake Bazeley called in position to go heads-up to the flop.

It rolled out {2-Spades} {5-Clubs} {8-Hearts}, and Craig checked and called a bet of 65,000. That brought them to the {K-Diamonds} turn, and Craig took the lead with a bet of 135,000. Bazeley shrugged and shoved all in for 455,000, and Craig didn't think too hard about it before announcing the fold.

Bazeley is up to 782,000 after dragging that pot.

The Last Redraw

Level 25 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

We're down to ten players, and we're one elimination away from the end of Day 2. Here's how the table stacks up after the final redraw of the event:

B.J. McBrayer Eliminated in 11th Place ($9,263)

Level 25 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
B.J. McBrayer - 11th place
B.J. McBrayer - 11th place

When the table folded around to his button, B.J. McBrayer looked down at {4-Spades} {4-Hearts} and moved his last ~140,000 chips in. Lance Craig's {A-Clubs} {7-Hearts} was good enough to call with from the big blind, and McBrayer stood up to race for his tournament life.

The board ran out unfavorably for him, coming {A-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} {9-Spades} {K-Hearts} {K-Spades} to make Craig the winning aces up. It relieves McBrayer of all the chips, sending him to the cashier to pick up more than $9,000 as a consolation prize.

Unfortunately, he doesn't look as happy as most people who've just won $9,000 as he mopes to the payout desk.
