On a board with about 13,000 in the pot, Kunal Patel bet 11,000 on the river and was paid off by an opponent. Patel tabled for trips, winning the pot and upping his stack to about 67,500.
It was a slow start to the day for Joseph Cheong, but he's chipped up to about 34,500 at the beginning of Level 7.
Grayson Ramage opened to 900 in the cutoff and found calls from Benjamin Thomas in the small blind and Joseph Cheong in the big blind.
All three checked the flop. When the hit the turn, Thomas checked. Cheong bet 1,175, getting Ramage to fold. Thomas called to see the river and check-called another 3,325 from Cheong.
Cheong showed for two pair, besting Thomas' holdings to win the pot.
"I'm gonna get a sandwich in twenty minutes," Matt Waxman said. "Can't wait." The break's coming up, and Waxman is clearly fixated on his hunger level. He started picking the brain of Adam Levy to find out what kind of sandwich to get. Levy told him turkey, but Waxman wanted chicken pesto. "I'm going to get some kind of bird," he said. The word duck was mentioned.
That, apparently, sparked a memory in Levy's mind. "Oh, you know what?" he began, getting wide-eyed. "One time I saw two ducks having sex in the Publix parking lot."
Waxman was equally excited about the new line of conversation. "That's awesome! Did you take a video?"
"No, but I got a photo!"
"Can I see it?!"
"Yeah!"
It's nice to see poker players finding something other than bad beat stories to chat about. It made us chuckle, at least.
