Floppin' Flushes Like Nobody's Business

Level 16 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Gary Friedlander
Gary Friedlander

We caught the tail end of the pot, walking up as Prince Gaspard was calling a 12,000-chip bet from Gary Friedlander. It was on the turn of a {Q-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} board, and the {7-Spades} filled out the board on the river. Friedlander made an uncounted bet of about 50,000, enough to put Gaspard to the test for his full stack.

Gaspard folded, showing {K-Hearts} {10-Spades}, and Friedlander showed his {A-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} as he collected the pot. The fourth diamond may have cost him Gaspard's bounty, but either way, it pushes him to 600,000 with well over a quarter of this chips in play.

Level 15 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Friedlander Driving This Bus

Level 15 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Gary Friedlander stacking the pot
Gary Friedlander stacking the pot

It's another monster pot to Gary Friedlander.

It began with him opening to 5,500 under the gun, and he found calls from Kunal Patel (cutoff), Brian Senie (button), and Prince Gaspard (big blind). The four men took a {6-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} flop, and the action came heavy. Gaspard checked, and Friedlander continued out with 21,500. Patel folded (what he later said was {J-Spades}{J-Clubs}), but Senie raised it up to 65,000. Gaspard spent some time in the tank before folding (what he later said was {8-} {6-}), but Friedlander reraised all in over the top. Senie had about 120,000 left, and he called it off with {6-Spades} {6-Hearts} for bottom set. Friedlander turned up {Q-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds} for the flopped flush, and he was happy to hear that some of Senie's outs were used up.

The turn {A-Clubs} was a blank, and so was the river {Q-Spades}, and Senie has gone from chip leader to out the door in one quick level. We're going to have to wait for Friedlander to stack up, but he's definitely close to 600,000 now.

One other note: Allen Kessler folded {5-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} from the small blind, and he's slightly peeved on missing out that 400,000-chip pot.

Shorr Eroding

Shannon Shorr
Shannon Shorr

Jeremiah Vinsant was all in before the flop for about 45,000 with {3-Hearts} {3-Diamonds}. Shannon Shorr looked him up with {K-Clubs} {J-Hearts}, and the race was on.

The {5-Hearts} {9-Clubs} {3-Spades} flop was money in the bank for Vinsant, and the turn {2-Hearts} and river {8-Spades} sealed his double up. He's back up to 95,000, while Shorr dips to 118,500.

Bowker Busts

Level 15 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Kyle Bowker
Kyle Bowker

Allen Kessler started the day by doubling through Kyle Bowker and has just eliminated him.

From middle position, Kessler raised to 5,100. Kyle Bowker went all in on the button for 35,900 and the blinds folded.

"Time to get your chips back," said Kessler, assuming he was in a race situation when he called with {J-Clubs}{J-Hearts}. It was not a race as Bowker turned over {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}. The board ran out {A-Clubs}{J-Spades}{2-Clubs}{5-Spades}{3-Spades} as Kessler scored the elimination to up his stack to about 115,000.

Prescott Doubles By the Shorr

Level 15 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

On a {5-Diamonds} {6-Spades} {7-Spades} flop, Allie Prescott got his last ~75,000 chips into the middle heads up against Shannon Shorr. Prescott had flopped a set with {7-Clubs} {7-Diamonds}, but he had to fade a few outs from Shorr's {8-Spades} {8-Hearts}.

The turn {10-Clubs} as no help to Shorr, and the {10-Hearts} river improved Prescott to sevens full to secure his double. He's all the way up to 170,000 now, while Shorr falls just below that to about 164,000.

Patel Finds a Double By the River

Level 15 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Kunal Patel raised to 4,500 from the hijack seat, and Brian Senie called with position to go heads-up to a flop.

It came {6-Spades} {9-Hearts} {6-Diamonds}, and Patel check-called a bet of 6,000. Both players checked through the {A-Diamonds} turn, and the {5-Hearts} filled out the board on fifth street. Patel checked again, Senie bet 20,000, and Patel check-raised all in for 44,600 total. Senie made the call, and Patel tabled {5-Clubs} {5-Spades} to win the pot with fives full. He's doubled to 115,600 with that pot, knocking Senie down to 184,000.
