Jewell Doubles White

Level 28 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Mary Harden raised to 80,000 under the gun only to have Kurt Jewell reraise to 205,000. When action reached Jesse White in the cutoff, he moved all in for 815,000. Harden folded while Jewell made the call.

Jewell: {A-Spades}{K-Hearts}
White: {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}

It was off to the races for White's tournament life. While races are usually exciting, this one was uneventful as the board ran out {7-Spades}{8-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{9-Hearts}. White doubled to 1.815 million while Jewell dropped to 3.7 million.

Barnhart Doubles Through Burney

Level 28 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Sam Burnhart moved all in from the hijack for his last 190,000 and was called by Brian Burney in the big blind.

Barnhart: {Q-Clubs}{8-Spades}
Burney: {K-Clubs}{5-Clubs}

Barnhart was in bad shape, especially after the flop came down {A-Spades}{K-Hearts}{8-Clubs}; however, the {Q-Diamonds} on the turn gave him two pair and the lead. Barnhart shot his arms up in the air in celebration and then turned from the table so as not to see the river card. It was the {4-Diamonds} and Barnhart doubled to 440,000. Meanwhile, Burney dropped to 385,000.

Harden Takes Down a Pot

Level 27 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante

Action folded to Mary Harden in the cutoff and she raised to 60,000, which was called by Kurt Jewell on the button and John Nguyen in the big blind. The flop fell {Q-Spades}{A-Spades}{2-Clubs} and Nguyen checked to Harden, who bet 115,000. Jewell folded, Nguyen called, and the {5-Clubs} hit the turn.

Nguyen check-called a bet of 200,000 from Harden and the duo watched the river come the {9-Hearts}. Nguyen once again checked and Harden moved all in. It was enough to take down the pot as Nguyen simply mucked.

Monster Pot Between the Big Stacks

Level 26 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

Action folded to Kurt Jewell in the hijack and he raised to 68,000. Sam Barnhart made the call from the cutoff while John Nguyen decided to reraise to 250,000 from the button. After the blinds folded, Jewell played back at Nguyen with a raise to 468,000. Barnhart wisely got out of the way and Nguyen made the call, creating a pot worth nearly one million.

When the flop came down {Q-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{2-Diamonds}, Jewell immediately bet out 368,000, which Nguyen called. The dealer proceeded to burn and turn the {10-Clubs} and Jewell check-called a bet of 550,000 from Nguyen. Both players then checked the {4-Hearts} river and Jewell showed {A-Spades}{Q-Spades} for queens and fours with an ace kicker. Nguyen mucked, dropping to 800,000, while Jewell took down the massive pot and chipped up to 4.7 million.

Derden Races for Tournament Life

Level 26 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

John Nguyen raised to 70,000 under the gun only to have Preston Derden move all in for 353,000 total from middle position. After the blinds folded, Nguyen made the call and the cards were turned up:

Nguyen: {8-Clubs}{8-Spades}
Derden: {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}

"I'm gonna get it," Derden said confidently as he was racing for his tournament life. Sure enough, the flop came down {A-Spades}{J-Hearts}{9-Hearts} and Derden took the lead. The {7-Clubs} on the turn gave Nguyen some straight outs, but the {4-Clubs} river missed him. Derden doubled on the hand and is now up to 750,000.

John Holley Eliminated In 9th Place ($13,789)

Level 26 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante
John Holley - 9th Place
John Holley - 9th Place

Action folded to chip leader Kurt Jewell in the small blind and he shoved. John Holley called all in for about 360,000 in the big blind and tabled {4-Diamonds}{4-Spades}, while Jewell showed {A-Spades}{5-Spades}.

The flop came down {J-Clubs}{J-Spades}{9-Spades} and while Jewell wasn't ahead yet, it was an excellent flop for his hand. He took the lead when the {2-Spades} hit the turn with the ace-high flush. Holley needed a jack or four on the river to survive, but it was the {8-Hearts}.

Holley earns $13,789 for his efforts, while Jewell is just shy of the 3,000,000 chip mark.
