Final Break

Level 12 : 700/1,400, 200 ante

We are on our last break of the day. We will play another three levels when we get back OR stop play when we reach 47 players.

Interesting Prelim Final Table

Level 12 : 700/1,400, 200 ante

Playing out right in front of us at the media desk, we have a battle of new school versus old school in the $1,000 buy in event that started yesterday. Internet sensation Bryan Devonshire is currently heads up, and his opponent is none other then Paul "Eskimo" Clark. At the moment, Devonsire holds the chip lead. We will be sure to post the winner of this heads up battle when it finishes.

Top Dogs

The two players that have emerged with large stacks are Giorgio Medici and Jeff Zigulis.

Medici told us that he was sitting with just 16,000 shortly before the dinner break. What's more is that he was involved in a hand in which he three-bet with {a-}{j-} preflop before {k-}{k-} and {a-}{a-} to forced him to fold his hand. The case ace found its way to the flop of an otherwise dry board and that would have likely cost him even more chips. Quite a turn of fortunes for Medici.

Acker Doubles

Tim Acker was able to double up with {a-}{a-} against the {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} of his opponent. He is still just short of the average stack.

Clements Gone, "Bakes" Too

Scott Clements got his final 16,000 chips all in preflop holding {k-Spades}{3-Spades} after he shoved from the button and was called by the big blind. He was up against {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs} and found no help on the {8-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} board.

Following him out of the poker room was David "Bakes" Baker. However, there is a good chance we will see both of them tomorrow.

O'Brien Busts Two

As we came to Dan O'Brien's table, we saw that he was collecting a pot while busting two players. O'Brien told us after the hand that all of the money got in preflop.

O'Brien: {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}
Opponent 1: {a-}{10-}
Opponent 2: {a-}{7-}

The board ran out {k-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{7-}, and O'Brien claimed two short stack bounties. Despite the win, O'Brien has taken a hit to his stack, as he is under 50,000.

Top Two No Good For Carroll

We picked up the action on a {k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} flop with a pot that was at least 9,000-chips. James Carroll led for 4,700 but was raised to 11,300. After some thought Carroll raised the action again to 21,700. His opponent moved all in for just over 60,000 total and Carroll made the call.

Carroll: {k-Spades}{10-Hearts}
Opponent: {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}

The turn and river were no help to Carroll who was crippled despite his hot start.
