Boyd Soul Reads Sigua

We only got to the table as the river was being dealt, but there was about 120,000 in the middle with a dangerous looking board of {4-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{8-Hearts}. Rellie Sigua fired out a bet of 50,000, and Boyd went deep into the tank. After 2-3 minutes, the clock was called on Boyd. About 30 seconds into the clock, Boyd flung in the call, and Sigua said "good call" tabling {a-Clubs}{4-Spades}. Amazingly, Boyd showed {k-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} for just a pair of sixes. That pair was all he would need to earn the pot, and he upped his stack to 600,000, while Sigua drops to under 400,000.

Grinevski Boots Buchanan

We didn't catch the action as we were at the other tables, but we heard all in and call from table 35 and went over to investigate. Dean Buchanan was all in on a flop of {5-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{4-Spades} with {k-Spades}{q-Spades}, but was dominated by Igor Grinevski, who held {5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}. The turn gave Buchanan some flush draw outs, coming the {10-Spades}, but he couldn't catch them on the river, the {2-Hearts}. Buchanan was eliminated, while Grinevski is up to 600,000.

Quick Hands

Almost immediately after condensing tables, Steve Goldberg was eliminated in 27th place.

Just a short while later, Brett Schwertley doubled up when his pocket aces held against the pocket queens of Mark Kroon.

Madsen Still Going Up

Jeff Madsen was heads up in a pot out of position on a {7-Clubs}{q-Spades}{8-Spades} board from the big blind position. His opponent, who was on the button, fired at the flop 35,000. Madsen called.

The turn was the {2-Clubs} and this time Madsen led for 82,000. His opponent this time was the one calling. Madsen had his opponent covered but both were still extremely deep for this stage of the tournament.

The river was the {9-Spades} and Madsen led one more time for 112,000. After some thought, he got called and calmly tabled {7-Spades}{5-Spades} for a flush. His opponent angrily mucked and Madsen scooped the pot.

Kuether Continues To Crush

Joe Kuether has been at the top of the chip counts all day, and the dinner break hasn't slowed him down, as he just knocked out another player. Action folded to the player on the button, who raised to 31,000. Joe Kuether thought for about 15 seconds before putting in a raise to 88,000 total. The big blind asked for a count, then tanked for a minute. Eventually, he slid the rest of his stack in, 198,000 total. The button folded, and Kuether quickly made the call.

Kuether: {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}
Opponent: {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}

Kuether was in great shape, and while he paired his king on the flop of {k-Clubs}{10-Spades}{5-Spades}, he still wasn't out of the woods, as his opponent picked up a broadway draw. The {6-Spades} on the turn took one of those outs away, and the {7-Hearts} on the river sealed the hand. Kuether collected the bounty, and is now sitting on 1.4 million.

Getzwiller Climbing

A player in middle position made it 25,000 before Brett Schwertley reraised to 65,000. Sean Getzwiller though for a couple of minutes before drawing out 117,000 chips and sticking them in the middle. The big blind and two previous aggressors all quickly mucked.

The very next hand Getzwiller flatted a raise to 26,000 from James Mordue. Mordue was in early position while Getzwiller controlled the button. The flop was {5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{6-Spades}. Mordue continued for 33,000 and Getzwiller called. The {3-Spades} slowed down Mordue and Getzwiller took the opportunity to bet, although we're not sure exactly how much. Mordue quickly folded and Getzwiller scooped the pot.

Pollock Right Back Up

Although were not sure how it happened, less than 5 minutes later, Joshua Pollock is almost back to where he started the level. That was quick.

Pollock Crippled

Joshua Pollock called a three-bet ship worth 219,000 holding {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}. He was well ahead of the {4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} that the at-risk player held... until the flop. It came down {q-Spades}{5-Spades}{4-Spades}. The {9-Spades} turn gave Pollock some outs to chop but it was not to be. The {a-Hearts} hit the river and nearly 500,000 worth of chips were shipped in the other direction.
