Gabaldon Spikes River to Eliminate Lampert

Level 22 : 6,000/12,000, 1,000 ante

Dominic Gabaldon opened for 45,000 from middle position only to have George Lampert move all in for 95,000 from the big blind. Even though it was only 50,000 more to Gabaldon, he didn't seem excited to make the call; nonetheless, he did.

Showdown

Gabaldon{Q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}
Lampert{A-Hearts}{Q-Spades}

Lampert was in great shape and primed for a double, but the {4-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{10-Spades} flop did give Gabaldon a gut-shot straight draw to go along with his nine. The {8-Spades} turn was nothing special, but the {9-Hearts} river was as it paired Gabaldon and gave him the pot.

With Lampert's elimination in 28th place, we're down to the final three tables, which means it's time for a redraw. We're going to go get the new line up and a full round of chips counts, so stay tuned.

Here Comes Hallen

Level 22 : 6,000/12,000, 1,000 ante

We just saw Michael Hallen stacking a monster pot after eliminating David Rozas in 30th place. We didn't catch all the details, but we do know that Hallen held {4-Hearts}{2-Hearts} on a {4-}{9-Hearts}{5-Hearts} flop while Rozas had {J-}{9-}. The money went in and Hallen managed to spike a {4-} on the river to claim the pot, bumping him up to 900,000.

Smith Doubles Through Burt

Level 22 : 6,000/12,000, 1,000 ante
Tim Burt took a hit but is still a contender.
Tim Burt took a hit but is still a contender.

Tim Burt and Shane Smith were heads up on a flop of {7-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} {7-Spades}. Burt led out with 60,000 and Smith moved all in. Burt took just a few moments to call and the hands were tabled.

Smith: {J-Spades} {J-Diamonds}
Burt: {A-Diamonds} {K-Spades}

The board completed {10-Spades} {8-Clubs} and Smith doubled up to 600,000.

Start-of-the-Day Chip Leader Eliminated

Level 21 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Justin Wainscott
Justin Wainscott

Justin Wainscott began the day as out chip leader by a decent margin; however, that doesn't always translate to success as he found out today. Wainscott lost a good portion of his stack after his {9-}{9-} failed to overcome the {A-}{A-} of an opponent.

Losing that hand knocked him back down to size, which is when Danny Alvarez swooped in and finished Wainscott off. It happened when for players took a {J-}{3-}{6-} flop and Wainscott checked {A-}{J-} from the small blind. He ultimately ended up check-raising all in for around 170,000 and was called by the {Q-}{J-} of Alvarez. He got it in good, but a {Q-} on the river sent a disappointed Wainscott out in 34th place; meanwhile, Alvarez took the chip lead with 950,000.
