Kuether Flops the Nuts

From middle position, Ryan Gentry opened the pot with a raise to 30,000 and was called by Joe Kuether on the button and Chris Cronin in the big blind.

The flop was {7-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{8-Hearts} and the first two players checked before Kuether fired 55,000. Cronin folded but Gentry made the call.

The turn was the {5-Clubs} and this time Gentry check-called 130,000 in chips. When the river hit the {3-Hearts}, Gentry checked for a third time. Kuether placed 260,000 in the middle and Gentry went deep into the tank, eventually making the call and tabling {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}. Kuether, however, had flopped a strait with {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs} and used it to take a commanding chip lead on the rest of the field.

Cantu Hurting

Brandon Cantu came in for a raise to 29,000, and Chris Cronin made the call in position. The two went heads up to a flop of {2-Spades}{j-Spades}{9-Spades}, and Cantu continuation bet to 40,000. Cronin took about 15 seconds to make the call, and the turn came the {q-Hearts}. Both players checked, and the dealer put the {k-Clubs} on the river. Cantu checked once more, and Cronin assembled a bet of 40,000, and threw it in. Cantu snap called, and could only shake his head when Cronin showed {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds} for a rivered straight. After the hand, Cantu is down to just 220,000.

Buckholtz Crippled by Kaawar

Woody Kaawar raised from the cutoff to 30,000 as the first player into the pot. Ryan Buckholtz was waiting in the small blind and he moved all in. Kaawar thought for a bit before making the call to put his tournament life at risk.

Kaawar: {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Buckholtz: {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}

The board ran out {2-Hearts}{2-Spades}{5-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} and Kaawar was able to double up.

Matzura Doubles Through Dandrea

Raymond Dandrea raised to 31,000, and it folded all the way to Suzie Matzura in the big blind, who went all in for 96,000. Dandrea made the call, and saw that he was in bad shape heading to the flop.

Matzura: {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}
Dandrea: {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}

The flop brought little help for Dandrea, coming {7-Spades}{7-Hearts}{6-Clubs}. The {5-Clubs} gave him a flush draw, but he didn't get that or the ace on the river, as it came the {2-Diamonds}. Matzura doubled up to over 200,000, while Dandrea drops to 700,000.

Funkhauser Doubles Through Baldwin

Eric Baldwin raised under the gun to 27,000, and got calls from Freddy Deeb and Brandon Cantu. Action folded around to David Funkhauser, who shoved all in for 199,000. It folded back to Baldwin, who said "me too", and moved his stack in as well. Deeb and Cantu quickly folded, and the cards were tabled.

Funkhauser: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
Baldwin: {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}

The board was safe for Funkhauser the whole way, coming {q-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{8-Hearts}, and he secured the double up to over 400,000, while Baldwin dips just below that mark.

Matzura Doubles Through Bratene

On the second hand back from the break, Suzie Matzura open shoved under the gun for 118,000. Chris Bratene was next to act, and he thought for about 15 seconds before calling. Everyone else at the table folded, and the two players flipped their cards up.

Matzura: {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}
Bratene: {a-Spades}{10-Hearts}

Matzura was well out in front, and she got a stranglehold on the hand when the flop came {8-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}. Bratene would need runner runner to knock her out, but it wasn't meant to be, as the {4-Spades} hit the turn and the {j-Clubs} hit the river. Matzura secured the double up, and the two are nearly even in chips now.

Break It Up

Level 19 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

The 16 remaining players have taken a 10 minute break. When they return, we will play two more levels, or until we reach a final table, before bagging and tagging for the night.

Kris Bailey Eliminated in 17th Place ($5,763)

Suzie Matzura opened the pot with a raise to 35,000 before Chris Bratene moved all in for about 200,000. Kris Bailey thought for a while in the big blind position before moving all in for less. Matzura quickly got out of the way.

Bratene: {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}
Bailey: {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}

The board ran out {5-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{6-Hearts} and despite the sweat, Bratene was able to hold on to the lead throughout, eliminating Bailey in the process.
