Drazen Ilich and an opponent across the table tangled up in a preflop raising war that left Mr. Opponent all in for 15,850. Ilich tabled his , but his opponent's had him poised for a double.
The flop came a scary , but Ilich could not get over the hump. The turn and river were blanks, and he's been parted with a chunk of his stack. "How did I not get there?" he asked with a smirk as he paid off his debts. He's down to about 50,000 now, and that's still up significantly from our last check on him before the last break.
Despite that beat he had put on him, Jake Bazeley is in good spirits and seems in no mood to go home early. Just a couple hands after his crippling, Bazeley three-bet shoved for 2,675 behind an opening raise. The opponent called, and "Bazeman" was flipping for his tournament life with against .
The board came , and Bazeley is back close to 7,000 and back in the game once again. He's still down in the danger zone with under ten beebs, though.
By the time we finished writing that last post and heading back out to the floor, Jake Bazeley appears to have doubled twice more. He's now sitting with just over 30,000 after being crippled down under 3,000 earlier this level.
Justin Barnum was in the small blind and with action folding around to him he raised to 1,700. Becky Makar was in the big blind and moved all in, having Barnum covered.
Barnum sat silently for a few moments, then leaned forward and asked, "Do you know what I started the hand with?"
Makar nodded but offered no other comment. After a few more moments in the tank Barnum announced call and tabled . Makar turned over .
The board ran , and Barnum's two pair was good.
"Sorry about that, I moved in just out of reaction. I didn't really mean to, but I couldn't take it back," Makar said.
A player in middle position opened with a raise, and Huy Nguyen three-bet from the blinds before he was faced with an all-in four-bet. Nguyen called off his last 20,925 with , and he was well in front. Mr. Opponent showed up .
The flop was safe for Nguyen, but the was a great turn card for Mr. Opponent. He picked up a combo draw to the knockout, but he could not get over the hump. The river filled out the board.
Nguyen was up early, then back down, and now he's up once again. That doubles moves him up to about 44,000 chips.
Jake Bazeley's quick comeback has us watching as interested onlookers now, and we just saw him open a pot to 1,400 in early position. It's always nice to have enough chips to escape push/fold mode. Bazeley's raise was called in two places, and off they went.
The dealer gave them to work with. Bazeley continued out with 2,500, and that folded the first called. Becky Makar was the one in position, though, and she stuck in a raise to 6,000. Bazeley scowled and shook his head slowly before mucking, and he's dipped just below the 30,000-chip mark once again.
It's still a far cry from his sub-3,000-chip stack of an hour ago.
Will "Monkey" Souther had been on a short stack for the last couple of levels. He moved all in preflop from the cutoff and found a call from Woody Moore - who opened under the gun. Moore called and the hands were tabled.
