Selman Eliminated

Level 18 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

During round for round play, Matthew Selman was involved in a big hand where he three-bet preflop while holding {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}. His opponent shipped into him and he snap called. His opponent tabled {A-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} and Selman was ahead by quite a bit.

The flop came down {J-Hearts}{6-Spades}{5-Spades} and Selman held his lead. The {7-Clubs} struck the turn and gave his opponent a few more outs. Unfortunately for Selman, the {7-Hearts} hit the river, giving his opponent trip sevens and a winning hand. This hand crippled Selman, and once the money bubble burst, he moved his stack in with {A-}{9-}. He was called by an opponent's {A-}{k-} and failed to improve.

The Bubble Has Burst

Level 18 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

A unique system was used at this stop, instead of hand-for-hand the tournament director had the field play round-for-round due to short handed tables. We had one player, Jeremy Drewery, that provided both knockouts.

The first one was a four-way pot with one very short-stacked player. Scott Weinberg only had 10,500 and the opening raise was 15,000. The active players checked it down and the board read {2-Hearts} {7-Hearts} {J-Spades} {5-Spades} {Q-Hearts}. Weinberg tabled {A-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} and Drewery held {K-Clubs} {Q-Spades}.

The next hand saw Drewery and Chris Bolek get it all in preflop. Bolek held {A-Hearts} {K-Clubs} and Drewery had {A-} {7-}. The board ran {4-Spades} {A-Clubs} {8-Spades} {10-Spades} {7-Hearts} and Bolek was eliminated.

Weinberg and Bolek will split the 36th place payout.

[Removed:376] Finds Pay Dirt on Turn

Level 18 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

We found this hand on the turn with the board reading {6-Clubs} {5-Spades} {8-Hearts} {5-Clubs}. Chris Parsons checked, Danny [Removed:376] moved all in for 78,000 and Parsons tanked.

He eventually called with pocket tens and [Removed:376] turned over {A-Clubs} {5-Hearts}. The river was a blank and an exasperated Parsons left the table after counting out the call.

Petersen's Nut Flush Takes It

We caught up with the action to find the board reading {J-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{8-Spades}{K-Clubs}. Joe Phelps and another player checked to Jacob Petersen who bet out 12,000. Both Phelps and the other player made the call.

The river brought the {Q-Hearts}. Phelps and his opponent checked once again and Petersen continued his aggression, betting 45,000. Phelps quickly made the call and the final player went into the tank for about a minute before mucking his hand. Petersen flipped up {A-Hearts}{6-Hearts} for the ace-high flush and Phelps could only shake his head.

"That's so sick," said Phelps as he threw his hand at the muck. Petersen scooped up his pot with a smile on his face.

Nasserazad Adds to Lead

Level 17 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Michael Nasserazad opened for 9,500 in early position and action folded around to the player in the big blind, and he called. The flop came {8-Clubs} {7-Spades} {K-Diamonds} and both players checked. The turn came {J-Diamonds}, the big blind checked and Nasserazad bet 10,500. The big blind folded and Nasserazad added to his tournament leading stack.
