The first flight didn't go as planned for Matt Brady as an early lost pot left him with a short stack for several levels. It's a different story in the night flight for him after he won a small pot and is up to about 26,000.
Brady opened to 325 from middle position and was called by the player in the small blind. The flop fell and it was checked to Brady who bet 250. A call from his opponent led to both checking the turn. The completed the board and the small blind bet 425. Brady called and upon seeing his opponent turn over for a pair of fours with an ace, Brady tabled for fours and deuces to win the pot.
We apologize if we missed him in the earlier flight, but we've just stumbled across another of our old pals from the WSOPC winners' photos.
Seneca Easley put on a fantastic performance in Rincon last season, going from chip leader to short stack at the final table, then coming back to beat Shaun Walker heads-up for the win. That title was good for more than $70,000 and a shiny gold ring, and Easley has bolstered his record with another four Circuit cashes and a WPT cash in the meantime.
Amanda Musumeci raised from under the gun and was called by both players in the blinds, leading to a flop.
The small blind checked it to the big blind who bet 700. Only Musumeci came along to see the turn which both checked. The hit the river and the big blind checked. Musumeci bet 1,100, but was met with a check-raise to 3,000 by the big blind. After a few moments Musumeci called, but mucked when the big blind tabled for a straight.
It's been a good start to this Day 1b flight for Huy Nguyen, and we just caught him in a heads-up pot with Jerry Yang.
Yang had limped in from middle position, and Nguyen stuck in a raise from late position to go heads-up with the World Champ. The flop brought and a check from Yang, and he called Nguyen's 550-chip continuation bet. Nguyen got another 875 in on the turn and 1,625 behind the river, and Yang called him all the way down reluctantly.
By showdown, Nguyen knew his was good, and he tabled it firmly as if it were the nuts. Yang studied what he was seeing as he slowly shook his head up and down, and he slipped his cards back to the dealer face-down.
Our Internet connectivity appears to be taking an extended dinner break. Since we've returned, things have gotten rather slow on that front, and we apologize for the lapse in our updates.
