Loni Harwood took down Event #2 here at the Palm Beach Kennel Club last week, a $345 No-Limit Hold'em affair for more than $30,000. She's off to a good start on Day 2 having just busted an opponent.
Picking up the action on a board, Bill Criego committed his last 13,800 into the pot. Harwood looked him up with and held the lead against Criego's .
The river was safe for Harwood, now up to about 70,000.
2010-11 WSOPC Lake Tahoe winner, Stan Quinn came into the day as the second shortest stack with just 6,400 chips, and they didn't last him long. We saw Quinn hovering on the rail with a scowl on his face, and we couldn't help ourselves asking what happened.
"I got it in with ten-jack suited against pocket nines," he said with a shrug.
That's that, and it's the end of the road for Mr. Quinn.
Barry Hutter opened the pot with a raise to 2,200 from middle position and Drazen Ilich three-bet to 4,800 from the hijack. Action folded back to Hutter and he four-bet shoved. Ilich made a quick all-in call for 37,200 and tabled .
Hutter was live with , but found no help from the board and is down to about 15,000.
Our 346 Day 1 survivors are back in their Day 2 seats, and the cards have gone in the air.
Our field has grown, too, as another 10+ players turned up to buy in this morning. Foremost among them is Brandon Adams, looking to creep past the $1 million mark in lifetime earnings. He and the other latecomers will begin with their starting stack of 20,000 chips and 20bb.
We'll let you know the final field size in just a few minutes.
Welcome to Day 2 of PokerNews' coverage of the World Series of Poker Circuit Main Event at the Palm Beach Kennel Club in West Palm Beach, Florida. Following two Day 1 flights yesterday, 346 players remain from 745 entries. Registration will remain open until the cards are in the air today (Brandon Adams is loitering around, so we imagine he'll be buying in today with a 20-big-blind stack), so as soon as the official numbers are announced we'll have that information for you.
Philip Samuels is top dog after nine levels yesterday with a stack of 160,500. Others returning to the felt today are WSOPC Tunica Main Event champion Kurt Jewell (75,800), Aaron Massey (74,300), Kyle Bowker (72,000), Jeff Papola (71,800), Harrison Gimbel (62,800), defending champion John Riordan (57,000), Chad Brown (26,700), and Bernard Lee (18,300).
Play is set to resume at noon local time, about half an hour from now, so keep it here at PokerNews throughout the day for live updates of all of the action.
