Spires Springs Into Second

Everyone folded around to Tong Le in the small blind, and he made it 120,000 to go. Leroy Spires was in the big blind, and he elected to make the call. The flop came out {9-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{6-Spades}, and Le checked. Spires bet out 175,000, and Le made the call. The turn brought the {9-Spades}, and once again, Le check called, this time for 350,000. The river came the {3-Hearts}, and both players checked. Spires showed {a-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} for two pair, and Le mucked his hand. With that, Spires is second with a shade under 3 million.

Deeb in Control of the Table

Freddy Deeb is pressing the action.
Freddy Deeb is pressing the action.

Freddy Deeb has certainly played like a Maverick the past two days. He seems to control the size of almost every pot he plays, especially here at the final table.

In the latest hand Alex Masek opened for 105,000, Tong Le called and Freddy Deeb called from the small blind. The flop came {9-Clubs} {2-Hearts} {10-Clubs}, Deeb checked, Masek checked and Le bet 165,000. Deeb called and Masek elected to take his short stack out of the way and let the two chipleaders play against each other.

The turn was the {8-Diamonds} and Deeb led out with 275,000. Le asked the dealer to spread the pot and took his time to make a decision in what could be an important pot. Le eventually folded and Deeb lengthened his lead on the table.

Action Slowing

Level 28 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

The five remaining players have tightened up for most of this level. They're obviously aware of the big jumps in the payouts.

Singontiko Takes Half a Million Off of Deeb

Level 28 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Freddy Deeb opened the action in the cutoff with a raise to 100,000, and David Singontiko was next to act on the button. He announced raise, and slid 235,000 into the middle. Everyone else folded, and it was back to Deeb, who made the call.

The flop came out {5-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{10-Clubs}, and both players checked. The turn brought the {j-Spades}, and Deeb fired out 250,000. Singontiko thought for about 15 seconds before again announcing raise. This time, he assembled a bet of 650,000, and put it in the middle. Deeb took just a few moments before he flicked his cards into the muck, giving the pot to Singontiko.
