WSOP Circuit Hammond Day 1b Kicks Off at Noon

Welcome back to PokerNews' coverage of the 2012-13 World Series of Poker Circuit Event Horseshoe Hammond Main Event.

Yesterday was Day 1a, and today is Day 1b — the last of the two starting flights. In the first batch, a huge field of 835 players came out to action with just 170 of them advancing to Sunday's Day 2. Numbers for today's field have been tossed around the area, with a realistic estimation of 500-600 more runners joining the mix.

Two things today should yield another huge field with hopes of nearing last year's overall field size of 1,615 entrants. Those two things are the fact that today's Day 1b flight takes place on a Saturday and that there is re-entry allowed today for those who busted on Day 1a. Let it grow.

Topping the 170 players yesterday was Mike Leah, while Kenneth Felten, Jackson Kimball, Mukul Pahuja and Ashly Butler rounding out the top five. Leah bagged 276,100 in chips.

Some of those expected to be in the mix today are Vinny Pahuja, Mohsin Charania and Matt Affleck. All of them busted on Day 1a, but stated they would be firing another bullet today. Kyle Julius should be making his first trip down to Hammond today, while his brother Ryan Julius may be back with round two after busting yesterday.

The cards are scheduled to be in the air at noon local time, so be sure to stay tuned right here to PokerNews for the live updates from the floor.
