Quads For Biermann

On a flop of {9-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}, we found Andy Nguyen bet an unknown amount. Ryan Biermann came over the top for 55,000 more and Nguyen flat called.

The {5-Spades} rolled off on fourth street and Nguyen shipped all in. Biermann snapped him off with {9-Clubs}{8-Hearts} for trip nines and Nguyen let out a sigh of frustration and threw his {J-Spades}{J-Hearts} on the felt. The {9-Diamonds} fell on the river, giving Biermann quad nines for good measure. WIth this win he's now sitting on roughly 1,050,000 in chips.

Huang Takes Lead

We witnessed Kevin Huang call the all in of a short stacked player. Huang held {A-Spades}{Q-Spades} and was crushing his opponent's {A-Clubs}{3-Hearts}.

The board was of no help to the short stacked player and Huang was awarded the pot. With this win he has vaulted into the chip lead with 1,125,000.

Some Updated Chip Counts

Kellner's Ride Is Over

Earlier we tracked the wild ride of Kelly Kellner who was able to breath life back into his tournament when his stack rose from 20,000 to about 145,000. Since, Kellner told us that he lost a fair sized pot when his {A-}{K-} lost to pocket eights.

We came across Kellner all in for his last 41,000 to see if he could mount the comeback once more. His opponent from the big blind called and the hands were tabled to find the two racing:

Kellner: {5-Hearts}{5-Spades}
Opponent: {Q-Clubs}{J-Hearts}

The flop was {3-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} and Kellner was forced to watch as his opponent made two pair and jumped into the lead. The {K-Clubs} turned and the {A-Diamonds} rivered, spelling the end for Kellner's tournament.

Potovsky Jumps Into Chip Lead

The aftermath of the following hand sent the room into a tizzy:

Mark Potovsky opened to 26,000 from early position and George Richards shipped all in over the top. It folded around to the blinds where another player moved all in over the top as well. Potovsky snapped and the hands were shown:

Potovsky: {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}
Richards: {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}
Opponent: {K-Hearts}{K-Spades}

The board came down {4-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{7-Hearts} and Potovsky's aces were able to hold, eliminating Richards and allowing him to double through the third player. He's now sitting on about 955,000.

More To The Rail

Kelkar Eliminates Argiropoulous

We caught up to find Angelo Argiropoulous all in and at risk holding {J-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} against the {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} of Shreeniwas Kelkar.

The board fell down {10-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{Q-Spades}{3-Clubs} and Argiropoulous was sent to the rail. Kelkar, on the other hand, is sitting around 860,000 in chips.

Gunning Down Chan

The board read {2-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{5-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{9-Hearts} and Lillian Chan slid out a 53,000 chip bet. Her opponent, Christopher Gunnarsson, went into the tank for a bit before finally announcing that he was all in for 200,000 total. It was then Chan who went into the tank for well over ninety seconds before finally calling.

Gunnarsson showed {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades} for a rivered full house. Chan just shook her head.

"That's such a sick river," she said. She rolled over {Q-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for two pair.

"The good ol' one outer!" someone from the other side of the table chimed in.

With this hit Chan is down to about 250,000 while Gunnarsson is sitting around 600,000.
