Foulkes Beats Bharat

Level 27 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

Ethan Foulkes and Lall Bharat — seated next to one another at Table 2 — have been engaged in frequent battles over small-to-medium pots throughout the first level-and-a-half of play today. Just now they were at it again, with the pot building a bit larger than usual in this instance.

The hand started with a Bharat raise to 58,000 from under the gun, called by Foulkes in the big blind. The flop came {3-Clubs}{J-Spades}{5-Spades}, and Foulkes check-called a continuation bet by Bharat. The turn brought the {8-Hearts} and another check from Foulkes, and this time Bharat bet 80,000 and Foulkes called, building the pot to around 350,000.

The river brought the {8-Diamonds}, and this time Foulkes decided to lead with a bet of 225,000. Bharat thought about a half-minute and called, then Foulkes turned over {Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} for an overpair of queens. Bharat tapped the felt and mucked his hand, complimenting Foulkes for having won that round between the two.
