Jacks Help Kinney Collect

Level 27 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

Jonathan Moseley raised to 50,000 from the cutoff, then it folded to James Kinney in the small blind who reraised all in for 712,000. John Bowman folded the big blind, then Moseley made the call.

Kinney: {J-Spades}{J-Clubs}
Moseley: {8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}

The dealer spread the {6-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} flop, prompting a shout from Kinney at the sight of the set-giving jack. The turn was the {5-Clubs}, which meant Moseley could still make a straight to beat Kinney. But the river was the {9-Spades} and Kinney survived with the big double.

Gregory Motes Eliminated in 14th Place ($15,601)

Level 27 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante
Gregory Motes - 14th Place
Gregory Motes - 14th Place

Hugh Henderson raised to 55,000 from the cutoff, and when it folded back to Gregory Motes in the big blind he reraised all in for 398,000 total.

Henderson thought about 20 seconds, then finally spoke up. "What the hell," he said. "I'll give you some action... I'll call."

Henderson turned over {A-Hearts}{10-Hearts}, and he enjoyed the preflop edge versus Motes's {A-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}. Henderson had the advantage five cards later as well, as the board came {A-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} to send Motes to the rail in 14th.

With that pot Henderson pushes up over 3 million chips and back ahead of Jonathan Moseley and into first position.

Moseley Wins Monstrous 2.8 Million-Chip Pot

Level 27 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante
Jonathan Moseley
Jonathan Moseley

On the last hand of Level 26, Jonathan Moseley opened to 45,000 from under the gun. James Kinney called in middle position, and Jeremiah Fitzpatrick defended his big blind. The flop came {q-Spades}{2-Hearts}{a-Clubs}, and Fitzpatrick checked. Moseley fired a continuation bet of 55,000, Kinney folded, and Fitzpatrick called.

The turn was a repeat deuce - the {2-Diamonds} - and Fitzpatrick knuckled again. Moseley tossed out 80,000, and Fitzpatrick announced, "One-ninety."

Moseley tank-called.

The {6-Diamonds} completed the board, and Fitzpatrick cooly flicked forward four blue T100,000 chips. Moseley shot him a disconcerting look, then said, "all in."

Fitzpatrick's eyes widened. He eyed his neighbor's stack, looked down at his own, then sighed.

"I call," he said.

Moseley ripped over {6-Hearts}{6-Spades} for a rivered full house, and Fitzpatrick slammed one of the chips he was rifling with his right hand onto the felt. He was then forced to show {5-Clubs}{2-Clubs} for trip deuces.

The all-in bet was for 1.089 million, and Moseley doubled to 2.8 million chips.

Moseley plummeted down to 430,000.

Last Level Begins

Level 27 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

With 14 players remaining, the final 75-minute level of the night has begun. Play will continue to the end of Level 27 unless they somehow play down to nine before that point.

Larry Gurney Eliminated in 15th Place ($15,601)

Level 26 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Larry Gurney - 15th Place
Larry Gurney - 15th Place

The table having folded to him in the small blind, Larry Gurney limped in, then Jeremiah Fitzpatrick raised to 65,000 from the big blind and Gurney called.

The flop came monotone — {2-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} — and Gurney didn't wait too long before pushing all in for his last 208,000. Fitzpatrick didn't take too much time, either, to make the call.

Fitzpatrick tabled {J-Diamonds}{J-Spades}, and when Gurney saw his opponent's hand, he had two short words to say.

"Uh oh."

Gurney showed his {J-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}, and indeed his prospects were mighty dim. In fact, according to the PokerNews Odds Calculator, Gurney's chances of drawing out were but 0.30%, with a little over a 1% chance of chopping.

The {K-Spades} then fell on the turn, reducing Gurney's chances to zero and making the river {4-Clubs} an item of trivia. Fourteen players now remain.

The Check-Call

Level 27 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

Todd Osborne checked to Hugh Henderson on a board of {a-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}. Henderson fired out a bet, Osborne check-raised to 210,000, and Henderson called.

The river was the {3-Spades}, and Osborne checked again. Henderson fired 100,000, and Osborne immediately called. Henderson showed {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} for a set of aces, and Osborne laughed before opening up {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} for a set of queens.

"Queen-High... King-High"

Level 26 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Kory Kilpatrick raised to 41,000 from the cutoff seat and got two callers in Gregory Motes on the button and Todd Osborne playing from the big blind.

The flop came {J-Spades}{A-Hearts}{7-Clubs}, and it checked to Kilpatrick who bet 50,000. Only Osborne called.

The turn was the {2-Clubs}, and both players checked. The river then brought the {6-Hearts} and a relatively quick bet of 86,000 from Osborne. Kilpatrick thought for a full minute, then made the call.

Osborne turned over his hand. "Queen-high," said the dealer at the sight of his {Q-Spades}{10-Hearts}. Then Kilpatrick turned over his hand.

"King-high," the dealer intoned. Indeed, Kilpatrick had {K-Hearts}{9-Clubs}, and it was good enough to win him the pot.

Super Slow Play

Level 26 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
John Bowman
John Bowman

Jonathan Moseley raised to 45,000 from early position, John Bowman called on the button, and Raymond Weaver defended from the big blind. The flop fell {q-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}, Weaver checked, and Moseley continued for 53,000. Only Bowman called.

The turn was the {j-Spades}, Moseley tossed out another 85,000, and Bowman made the call.

The {4-Spades} completed the board, and Moseley fired a third bullet worth 135,000.

"How much?" Bowman asked the dealer, who spread out the bet.

Bowman tanked for 20 seconds or so, then cooly tossed out for blue T100,000 chips, raising to 400,000. Moseley unhappily cut out a stack of olive T25,000 chips, and made the call.

Bowman ripped over {q-Spades}{q-Clubs} for a flopped full house, and Moseley send his cards spiraling into the muck.

Quack, Quack

Level 26 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

John Bowman opened to 45,000, and received three callers, including Jeremiah Fitzpatrick (button), Jonathan Moseley (small blind), and George Zinaty (big blind). The flop fell {3-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{8-Spades}, and all four players checked.

The turn was the {5-Clubs}, Moseley led out for 60,000, and only Zinaty called.

The {6-Hearts} completed the board, and Moseley fired another 100,000 or so. Zinaty quickly called.

Moseley showed {2-Clubs}{2-Spades} for a rivered straight, and Zinaty mucked his hand.
