A Fun River for Panzica

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Sam Panzica, who won the West Palm Beach Casino Championship, open-shoved for 27,800 on the button. Luke Graham, who just won the Harrah's New Orleans Main Event, tanked for close to two minutes before calling in the big blind.

Panzica: {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}
Graham: {6-Clubs}{6-Spades}

The dealer fanned {6-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}, giving Graham a set of sixes, and leaving Panzica with very few outs to survive. The {10-Spades} on the turn was one of those outs, giving Panzica a gut-shot straight draw, and the {j-Spades} spiked on the river to give him Broadway.

"That's a fun a river," Panzica said with a huge smile on his face.

The 21-year old doubled to 60,000 chips, while Graham dropped down to 56,000.

Hanks Busts

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Brent Hanks (Day 1) - Eliminated
Brent Hanks (Day 1) - Eliminated

A short-stacked Brent Hanks moved all in from the small blind, and Joe Tehan snapped it off in the big blind.

"Oh good," Hanks chuckled, turning over {9-Diamonds}{5-Spades}.

Tehan had him in bad shape with {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}, and held as the board rolled out {10-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{3-Hearts}.

Mercier Doubles Yet Again

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

When we reached the table, Jason Mercier had {q-Clubs}{j-Spades} sitting in front of him on a board of {8-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{5-Diamonds}. Josh Reichard was the player who had him at risk, and evidently his {a-Hearts}{7-Hearts} was already in the muck.

Mercier doubled to 50,000 chips, while Reichard dropped down to 70,000.

Nitsche Eliminated by October Niner

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Dominik Nitsche on Day 1.
Dominik Nitsche on Day 1.

A monster pot just went down between October Niner Jeremy Ausmus and World Series of Poker bracelet winner Dominik Nitsche that resulted in one of them being eliminated and the other taking over the chip lead.

The exact preflop betting escaped us, but we do know a raising war resulted in Nitsche being all in for 70,000 or so holding the {A-Spades}{K-Spades} and up against the {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts} of Ausmus. It was a flip, and according to the PokerNews Odds Calculator Nitsche had a 45.92% chance of surviving the hand. Unfortunately for him, the {7-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{2-Clubs} flop dropped that to just 4.34% after Ausmus was delivered a set. Running straight or flush cards were Nitsche's only bet, but the {2-Spades} turn left hm drawing dead when it improved Ausmus to a full house.

The meaningless {3-Hearts} was run out on the river for good measure and Nitsche wished Ausmus luck before exiting the tournament floor.

Roland Loses Race to Bust; Nguyen Eliminated as Well

Roland Israelashvili (Day 1) - Eliminated

Roland Israelashvili was all in and at risk with two queens against John Bowman, the winner of the Harrah's Cherokee Main Event. Bowman flopped an ace, taking the lead, and held as the turn and river both bricked.

Israelashvili, who made the final table of the 2012 $50,000 Poker Players Championship hit the rail, and a few minutes later, Bowman also eliminated Dung Nguyen with unknown action. Bowman now sits with 150,000 chips.

Engel Gets Low Again Then Busts

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Ari Engel (Day 1) - Eliminated
Ari Engel (Day 1) - Eliminated

Ari Engel checked to Joe Tehan on a flop of {2-Spades}{3-Clubs}{10-Spades}. Tehan tossed out a gray T5,000 chip, Engel called, and the turn brought the {6-Hearts}. Engel check-called another bet - this one was worth 8,000 - and the river brought the {k-Diamonds}. Engel checked a third and final time, and Tehan tossed out 18,500.

"So small," Engel said to Tehan, who remained quiet.

Engel proceeded to tank for the next three minutes, until he and Tehan started to banter back and forth.

"This is so embarrassing," Engel chuckled before finally calling.

Tehan ripped over {k-Spades}{10-Hearts} for two pair, and Engel mucked his hand, dropping back down to 11,000 chips. Engel, who finished the season with more Circuit points than any of his peers, later busted with unknown action.

Bjerno Busted by Wong

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Nathan Bjerno and Sandra Wong had nearly identical stacks when they got all of the chips in the middle preflop. Bjerno, who started the hand with 52,200 chips, held {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}, and Wong, who started the hand with 53,109 chips, had {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}.

Wong remained in the lead after the flop fell {5-Spades}{5-Hearts}{10-Clubs}, and it was all over when the {8-Spades} turned. A meaningless {9-Hearts} completed the board, and Bjerno was eliminated.
