Boat for Tabak

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Erik Tabak is on his reentry and his second attempt is already showing more promise than the first. Holding {7-Clubs}{7-Spades}, Tabak bet 1,400 on a {5-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{8-Spades} turn and 3,200 on the {5-Spades} river. Jacco van Hooren called the turn and snap-called the river, but had to muck when he saw Tabak's hand.

Van Hooren flashed the {8-Clubs} before mucking. Despite the setback, the Dutchman still has over 100k in chips to make him one of the early frontrunners.

Metaal "Plays Like A Goat"

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante
Govert Metaal
Govert Metaal

Left without chips, Govert Metaal went off to the reentry desk to buy himself back in.

"I played like a goat!" he laughed when we approached him, most likely not referring to the all-capital acronym. "I had ace-eight of clubs and a guy [Alex de Meijer] three-bet me. I had just 8,000; I can't really call so, well, I called," the Monaco resident said, grinning.

"So the flop comes ace-eight-jack and he checks behind. The turn is a ten, I bet 3,000 with 1,600 behind and he calls. On the river, the rest went in and he had ten-ten," Metaal heartily laughed. He will be back for his second attempt shortly.

Jack-Deuce, Never Lose?

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Marcel Goldenbelt raised to 800 on the button and faced a three-bet from Marco Rodrigues to 2,100, which he called. Both players checked the {A-Diamonds}{A-}{K-Diamonds} flop.

On the {5-} turn, Rodrigues bet 2,800 and Goldenbelt called. The river was the {2-Diamonds} and Rodrigues now bet 4,600. Goldenbelt raised to 12,000, Rodrigues three-bet shoved around 45,000 and Goldenbelt went deep in the tank.

After minutes, he opted to fold his hand and Rodrigues rolled over the {J-Hearts}{2-Hearts} for just aces and deuces, much to the delight of the spectators in the hand.

Tabak Doubles Through Van Hooren

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Jacco van Hooren raised to 800 in early position. Erik Tabak, down to 5,475, three-bet shoved all in from late position. Van Hooren shrugged and flicked in a calling chip.

Erik Tabak: {A-Spades}{7-Clubs}
Jacco van Hooren: {Q-Clubs}{10-Spades}

The board ran out {K-Spades}{K-Clubs}{8-Spades}{A-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} and Tabak's hand remained best to double up. Despite the minor setback, Van Hooren still wields one of the largest stacks in the room.

Van de Venne Flops the World

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Andre van de Venne raised to 1,000 from under the gun, Farukh Tach three-bet to 3,300 from the cutoff and Van de Venne called. Van de Venne check-called 2,800 from Tach on the {9-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{6-Spades} before the {5-Diamonds} turn got checked around.

The river was the {J-Hearts} and Van de Venne bet 7,200, which Tach paid off. Van de Venne showed {9-Spades}{9-Clubs} for the flopped full house, Tach nodded and mucked.
