Esquivel Over Six-Figures

Level 7 : 300/500, 500 ante

A player limped in from under the gun, and a player in middle position raised to 2,000. Michael Esquivel three-bet to 4,400 from the button, and only the middle position player called.

The middle position player checked an {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{5-Spades} flop, and Esquivel bet 2,000. The middle position player called.

On the {6-Spades} turn, the middle position player checked again, and Esquivel bet 5,000. That did the trick as Esquivel's opponent folded.

Sam Rameshk Wins Gold in Seniors Event #1: $250 No-Limit Hold'em

Level 7 : 300/500, 500 ante
Sam Rameshk
Sam Rameshk

The PokerNews Live Reporting Team is in Milwaukee to live report action the $1,700 Main Event, but is just one of a dozen gold ring events at the stop. As such, we thought we’d profile some of the preliminary tournaments and those who struck it big.

The stop featured two Senior Events, both of which cost $250 to enter. The first attracted 258 entries and saw a $51,600 prize pool distributed to the top 39 players. Among those to make the money were Jon Driver (35th - $341), Harvey Bundy (30th - $372), John Taylor (20th - $503), James Tessier (14th - $686), and Paul “Big Daddy” Elfelt (7th - $1,626), who actually won a ring in a Seniors event the last time the Circuit visited the venue.

In the end, Sam Rameshk of Milwaukee, Wisconsin bested Illinois’ Gerald Heath in heads-up play to win the title for $11,856 and a gold ring.

Johnson's Straight Bests Sun's

Level 7 : 300/500, 500 ante
Aaron Johnson in Day 1a action
Aaron Johnson in Day 1a action

Aaron Johnson checked a {j-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} flop from the big blind, and Hao "John" Sun bet 2,000 from under the gun. Johnson called.

Johnson checked again on the {10-Diamonds} turn, and Sun announced a bet of 5,000. Johnson called again.

The {5-Diamonds} fell on the river, and Johnson checked a third time. Sun bet 8,000, and Johnson looked over Sun's stack before raising to 35,000, more than enough to put Sun in for his last 23,300 total. Sun eventually made the call, and Johnson tabled {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts} for Broadway.

"Nice hand," Sun told Johnson while turning up his {j-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}, and he headed to the cage to re-enter.

Sepiol Puts His Opponent in the Tank

Level 7 : 300/500, 500 ante
Daniel Sepiol
Daniel Sepiol

A player raised to 1,300 from the hijack, and Nicola Ditrapani, who won Event #7: $400 No-Limit Hold'em Monster Stack here this week for his first WSOPC ring, called on the button. Daniel Sepiol three-bet to 7,700 from the big blind, and only the hijack called.

Sepiol led out for 5,000 on the {j-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{a-Spades} flop, and his opponent quickly raised to 10,000. Sepiol jammed for 26,000 total, and his opponent went deep into the tank. After about two minutes, he released his hand.

"Wow...I'm really surprised," tablemate Alan Cutler told Sepiol while he was stacking his chips up.

Trost Picks Up One

Level 8 : 300/600, 600 ante
Craig Trost
Craig Trost

Craig Trost raised to 1,400 from early position, and found a lone caller in the cutoff.

Trost bet 1,200 on the {k-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} flop, and his opponent called.

Both players checked the {a-Hearts} turn, and Trost bet 1,600 on the {k-Diamonds} river. His opponent considered his options for just a moment before folding, and Trost shrugged slightly as he raked in the pot.
