Mark Hamilton Victorious in Event #6: $400 NLH for First Ring

Level 7 : 300/500, 500 ante
Mark Hamilton

PokerNews is in town to live report both the Main Event and High Roller here at the World Series of Poker Circuit Bicycle Casino, but those are just two of the gold ring events that will have played out by the end of the series.

Event #6: $400 No-Limit Hold’em drew a small field of 53 runners, which meant a $17,490 prize pool was on tap for the final eight.

Coming out on top was 49-year-old businessman Mark Hamilton, who won it for $6,190 and his first gold ring. Originally from England but now residing in Los Angeles, the third time proved to be the charm as he’d previously finished second in two other WSOPC heads-up matches.

“This was a lot more relaxed because of the lower prize pool,” said Hamilton. “The Monster Stack was tough because I was chip leader with three left and then I lost a big flip … But this was just relaxed. The Bike is my favorite casino to play at. Most of my good cashes have been at The Bike.”

He added: “I think just playing a lot of tournaments has helped and I play a lot of heads up with friends, so that makes a difference.”

Facing a 6,000 bet on the river of a {5-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{9-Spades}{a-Hearts}{j-Hearts} board, Thomas Emerson put his big stack to work, raising all in with his opponent covered.

Emerson's opponent tanked for a bit before deciding on a call, but saw the bad news when Emerson showed {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts} for the flush.

Day 1b has been full of big hands for Emerson, who hit a royal flush earlier in the day, and is now at the 100k chip mark.

Full Boat Over Flush for Torosyan

Level 6 : 200/400, 400 ante

With {4-Clubs}{9-Spades}{4-Spades} on the flop,, Levon Torosyan check-called from the cutoff, against a 3,200 bet from the button.

Both players checked the {2-Spades} turn. Torosyan bet 5,000 on the {5-Spades} river, and the button raised to 16,000, enough to put Torosyan all in with a call.

Torosyan did indeed make that call, turning over {2-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} for twos full to get the best of his opponent's {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds} nut flush.
