Jon Aldalur Wins First Ring In Event #3: $600 No-Limit Hold'em

Level 7 : 300/500, 500 ante
Jon Aldalur
Jon Aldalur

While PokerNews is here offering live updates from the Main Event and High Roller, we’d be remiss if we didn’t tell you about the full schedule of side events that have been playing out over the past week at the World Series of Poker Circuit Harrah's Las Vegas.

In Event #3: $600 NLH, 188 runners created a $100,000 prize pool that was paid out to the top 29 players. Among those to cash but fall short of the final table were David Larson (11th - $1,705), Benjamin Craig (15th- $1,449), Mark Liedtke (21st - $1,198), Joshua Turner (24th - $1,062), and Ryan Dodd (25th - $977).

In the end, it was United Kingdom native Jon Aldalur who collected every chip in play to capture his first ring along with a $24,298 payday.

Aldalur hails from Spain. He and his girlfriend are in the midst of an extended vacation to New York, and Aldalur took a few days to come to Las Vegas to play the WSOP Circuit for his birthday. Coming here on his own took a little convincing – “She was doubting,” he admitted with a slight smile.

“I’m in shock,” a joyful Aldalur said after securing his victory.

Aldalur is a recreational player who works in commercial auto sales. But he’s a fairly serious amateur. “I play a lot of tournaments,” he said. “I just like to play poker.”

Garshofsky Clocks Opponent Out the Door

Level 6 : 200/400, 400 ante
Mitchell Garshofsky
Mitchell Garshofsky

Mitchell Garshofsky opened under the gun and the button player three-bet to 3,200. The blinds folded and action was back on Garshofsky who four-bet jammed sending his opponent deep into the tank. After roughly eight minutes a clock was finally called and Garshofsky's opponent called once the five-second countdown began.

Mitchell Garshofsky: {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
Opponent: {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}

Garshofsky had his opponent crushed and improved to a set on the {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{q-Spades} flop but it also gave his opponent a broadway draw.

The {7-Diamonds} turn changed nothing and Garshofsky sent his opponent to the rail after the {q-Diamonds} completed the board on the river.

Stephen Graner: {a-Hearts}{7-Hearts}
Matt Affleck: {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades}

Affleck caught Graner bluffing with a missed flush draw and took down the pot with top pair top kicker.

Mancilla Rivers the Nuts and Gets Paid

Level 5 : 200/300, 300 ante
Brian Mancilla
Brian Mancilla

There was heads-up action between Brian Mancilla from middle position and Matthew Omeara from the big blind with a {7-Spades}{5-Spades}{j-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} board showing.

With over 5,000 already in the middle, Omeara check-called Mancilla's 3,200 bet and was the {8-Hearts} complete the board on the river.

Omeara checked his option once more to Mancilla who fired out 7,000 sending Omeara into the tank.

After a minute or so, Omeara called and Mancilla tabled {10-Spades}{9-Spades} for the nut-staright to scoop the pot.
