Price Springs the Trap on Zobian

Level 8 : 300/600, 600 ante
Toby Williams
Toby Williams

Toby Price limped under the gun, Aram Zobian raised to 2,300 from the cutoff, and the button, small blind and big blind all called.

Action was then back on Price, who reraised all in for 26,300 total. Zobian then four-bet shoved over the top for 38,000 total.

The button and small blind folded, and the big blind asked for a count on Zobian's stack before reluctantly folding. Price and Zobian then went heads up to the showdown.

Toby Price: {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}
Aram Zobian: {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}

Board: {10-Hearts}{2-Spades}{2-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{j-Clubs}

Zobian saw the bad news when Price turned over pocket kings, and no help came on the runout for Zobian.

Johnson Doubles Through Sankari

Level 8 : 300/600, 600 ante

The flop was reading {k-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{2-Spades} and there was about 13,000 in the middle when the player in middle position checked along with Charles Johnson from the hijack. Ghassan Sankari bet 5,000 from the button and the player in mid-positon folded but Johnson check-raised all in for 20,500. Sankari thought for a long while, then made the call.

Charles Johnson: {3-Hearts}{2-Hearts}
Ghassan Sankari: {a-Spades}{j-Clubs}

Sankari had ace-high and Johnson had a pair of deuces. The turn came the {a-Hearts} giving Sankari the lead with a pair of aces but that didn't last long as the {2-Clubs} completed the board and Johnson took down the pot with trip deuces.

Ziebarth Calls, Trivett Mucks

Level 8 : 300/600, 600 ante

Both blinds checked, and Scott Ziebarth bet 2,000 from early position on a {6-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{4-Spades} flop. Michael Trivett called from the small blind, and the big blind folded.

Both remaining players checked the {7-Clubs} turn. Trivett bet 4,500 on the {3-Clubs} river, and Ziebarth briefly thought it over before calling.

Trivett immediately mucked, and Ziebarth took in the pot without showing his hand.

PokerNews is in town to live report both the High Roller and Main Event here at the World Series of Poker Circuit Planet Hollywood, but those are just two gold ring events that will have played out by the end of the series.

In Event #2: $400 No-Limit Hold’em, 359 runners created a $118,370 prize pool that was paid out to the top 55 players. Among those to cash but fall short of making the final table were Jarod Ludemann (11th - $1,691), Scott Clements (16th - $1,231), Josh Prager (26th - $932), and Spencer Champlin (43rd - $633).

In the end, Ohio’s Jeffrey Stephens bested Arian Khatibshahidi in heads-up play to win the title and $25,248 top prize.

“It’s the monkey off my back. I’ve got a runner-up in a big tour Main Event, and I’ve been so close so many times so to finally get a championship in a very reputable circuit means a lot to me,” said the 34-year-old Stephens, who captured his first gold ring.

The father of two continued: ““I’ve got a family that means the world to me and spending time with them is pretty cool. But they’ve seen Dad on TV and they’d like me to go play poker. It’s what I love to do.”
