PokerNews is in town to live report both the High Roller and Main Event here at the World Series of Poker Circuit Planet Hollywood, but those are just two gold ring events that will have played out by the end of the series.

In Event #4: $400 NLH, 230 runners created a $75,900 prize pool that was paid out to the top 35 finishers. Among those to cash but fall short of the final table were Clayton Fletcher (12th - $1,229), Sohale Khalili (16th - $875), and Darren Rabinowitz (19th - $763), just to name a few.

In the end, 26-year-old Luis Pauyac-Martinez, originally from Peru, bested Vinicius Lima in heads-up play to win the title, $17,965 top prize, and his first gold ring.

“It feels great. It’s actually my second trophy, but it took me over three years to get the second one. I’ve been grinding for four years,” explained Martinez. “I play whenever I can. I’m a waiter so I fund my career by waitering. I plan on going pro soon – I’m building my bankroll. That’s why I moved to Cali - to go pro.”

He added: “I’ve been dreaming about a ring ever since I got into poker. This means a lot – I’ve been working hard.”

Del Vecchio Makes the Right Call

Level 7 : 300/500, 500 ante

The player under the gun limped and the player in mid-position raised to 1,300. Mike Del Vecchio three-bet to 4,200 from the cutoff and the player under the gun folded but the player in mid-position stuck around with a call.

The flop fell {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} and the player in mid-positon checked. Del Vecchio bet 3,500 and his opponent check-called.

The turn was the {10-Hearts} and action went check-check to the {6-Spades} river. This time, the player in mid-position threw in a bet of 7,600 and Del Vecchio took a few seconds of reflection, then called. The player in mid-positon showed {7-Clubs}{5-Clubs} for a bluff and Del Vecchio turned over {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs} to rake in the pot with a pair of tens.

Level 7 : 300/500, 500 ante
Jason Mendoza
Jason Mendoza

Jason Mendoza open raised under the gun, another early position player three-bet to 3,500, and the hijack four-bet all in for 13,500.

Mendoza five-bet shoved for 30,800, and the early position player tanked briefly before calling, creating a three-way all in showdown. The early position player had Mendoza and the hijack covered.

Hijack: {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}
Jason Mendoza: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}
Hijack: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}

Board: {4-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

Mendoza found a great spot to pick up pocket aces, and his premium preflop hand held up. Mendoza doubled through the early position opponent, and the hijack was sent to the rail.
